    Mevo+ Layout (Island?)

Hi All! Recently joined and have been reading all of the great information here to kick off my build! I am building my simulator in an extra-deep garage stall. Because I would like to still be able to pull in the garage in the winter, I was hoping to build the floor to include an "island" back to the Mevo+ unit so that I am able to straddle the "island" with my truck. I have a couple of questions below and my current plan is listed at the bottom with a quick AutoCAD layout sketch.
    1. Is the "island" idea ok or does the Mevo+ need a wider place to sit between the unit and the ball? If the island is ok, can it be 2' wide or should I go 4' (as shown in layout)?
    2. I ordered a TrueStrike gel section and range section to sink into my subfloor and be level with the remaining turf surface. Will I be able to hit off of both and the Mevo+ detect both shots? Plan would be to hit off of inner side of either mat and rotate mats 180deg when worn out.
    • Flightscope Mevo+ (ordered)
    • Carl's Place DIY Enclosure - 8.5'x13'x5' - premium screen (ordered)
    • DRICORE 1" thick insulating subfloor (received)
    • 3/4" EVA Foam Tiles (ordered)
    • TFD Putting Elite Turf - 15'x20' Roll (ordered)
    • TrueStrike Gel Section (ordered)
    • TrueStrike Range Section (ordered)
    • Optoma GT1080HDR Projector (ordered)
    • Gaming PC (ordered)
    • Plan to run E6 connect, but will decide later

What you are proposing is quite similar to what I was confronted with. I decided to just make the so called "island" very light and easily movable. In the attached pictures I have a fiber built 1x3 strip with the center hitting position set at 10' from screen. My dri-core extends out to 15' from screen. Then the light section for the mevo+ sits on top of very light cheap turf. I can easily toss the island onto the dri-core section and pull the two cheap turf sections onto the dri-core hitting area and vehicle garage parking space is back in service!

This is absolutely perfect! Thanks for sharing! Your setup looks super nice. What did you use to frame out your DRICORE? How wide is your island? My goal would be to leave the island in place and then just park over top of it with a tire on both sides. I could always toss a tarp over top of it in case the truck was wet/snowy when I pulled in.

Glad to help. I certainly read many posts as I built mine. I looked all over for something to trim the exposed edges. I had a couple of 12' 2x4 cedar boards, so I just took one and set a table saw at 45 degree and ripped two of the corners off of it. Worked for me. My overall height is 1.75". May not be the height you are after.

PS. dannym2009 I forgot you asked about the size of the island. It is 3' wide x 4' long. I just used a piece of 0.75 inch turf and glued 1" of EVA foam mat to it so it is very light and easy to toss out of the way. This brought it up to the height of the rest of the hitting/landing/putting area.
Working...
