  • Titleist launches Pro V1 RCT (Radar Capture Technology) golf balls

    https://www.golfwrx.com/663053/title...m_content=main

These ProV1 RCT balls are developed for Trackman. What are the chances these will work with Flightscope units, eliminating the use of metal dot sticker? I would be inclined to believe the RCT balls should work with Flightscope as well?

This is fascinating. For me, the stickers are a non-issue, but if these balls can make radar more accurate then this could be big.

      Another discussion here on them

Titleist is releasing their RCT ProV1 and ProV1x for better radar tracking on November 3rd for $65/dozen. I know it was developed with Trackman, but does it work with Flightscope radar too? Kind of a steep price over the metallic dots

For proper operation, it will probably be necessary to update FW and adapt the pattern for radar tracking.

You would still need to use a ball without a for putting I would think so not really worth the money as they will be expensive

I’m confused what having to use a separate ball for putting has to do with it?

They are expensive agreed but it takes a lot of balls to add tup cost difference between Mevo+ and X3. If cost is a concern use these for driver and woods where Mevo+ struggles and use a dotted ball for irons where it works better already.

I agree it's better than having a dot on the ball, maybe the new fusion update will give better results without using a dot, which I don't use anyway so makes no odds to me

The recent announcements from flightscope have suggested that they're working with titleist and that they're expecting to make a joint announcement around the balls. Flightscope developed a similar ball way back in 2005, so it's nothing new they say. Eliminating the need for stickers is just one more nice convenience that hopefully goes along with the more important aspect of better spin numbers.

From what Henri said, fusion tracking does not enhance ball spin detection whatsoever as that is only done by the radar and not the camera.

However, he did say it works and yielded "as good as it gets" results with proper software implementation, and it is coming.

I’ve seen on a FB Mevo group where several people tested these on Mevo+. They said results were outstanding with 99% measured spin. Also helped driver distance due to better spin reading. I’ll probably be ordering some soon.

I recently got a dozen rt, which I used with my flightscope x2. First off, I'll mention these ball were designed for and tested by the trackman launch monitor. The results were mixed. I think the results were more accurate with the rt balls than a prov1 with metallic dot for wedge shots. I still got some estimated backspins(marked with an Asterix). Maybe 1 or 2 out of 10. No more than I usually get with my metallic dot marked prov1s. Where these balls didn't do as well was with low launching clubs. Fairway woods, hybrids and long irons., I got some pretty funky readings on what felt like pretty good shots. I will continue to use these ball whenever I hit a wedge, but will use the dotted ball from longer distances.
