SM User Reports - Titleist RCT Balls Resolving M+ High Speed Driver Issues

This is surprising and a HUGE boost to FlightScope users, if true. I've seen personal accounts from three early adopters of the Titleist ProV1 Radar Control Technology (RCT) balls stating Mevo+ high spin reads with Driver have vanished.

I'm surprised since Trackman indicated its users would need a firmware update to work properly. Like FlightScope, Trackman suggested use of metal dot stickers for optimal accuracy. However, recent mainstream videos by TXG and others are attesting to improved Trackman performance with the RCT balls.

Adding: Trackman firmware update 2.2 comes with ability to "read" the RCT balls. Again, FlightScope users without having any firmware or app updates are reporting success, as well.

I apologize. I re-read the MGS article. Trackman firmware update 2.2 took care of the Titleist RCT balls. So, as a Trackman user, update the firmware and go!

Nice! Will def look to buy a box once we get some more reports from m+ users. Then next step is to try and recreate the positive readings using the metal dots once the firmware is upgraded. I bet that can be done. Don't want to spend $65 every time

Hmm. Not so sure. The difference with the RCT balls is the thin piece of metal sits under the cover, and I think the MGS article alluded to that is Trackman had to issue new firmware.

Also, a smaller ball company, OnCore, may have something to offer this space at a competitive price. A few years ago, they released a ball with a solid metal core, and were trying to develop a "smart" ball with an onboard gyrometer. They call it the Genius ball, and discuss it on their website, but I don't think they've gotten far with it.

Tangent : anyone ever played any OnCore golf balls? Interested in hearing how they perform on real golf and if they produce better results with radar Sims

JakeGeezy yes I've played OnCore Elixir and Vero X1 golf balls. I tried the Vero X1 with the Mevo+ and didn't notice any difference from any ball without a dot.

I like the X1 better than the Elixir, but if I can get a deal on any brand name golf balls I go that route because the X1 is about $40/dozen and I didn't find it better than any other premium ball. Granted I wasn't testing golf balls to see which one worked better

The problem with using the elixir is that the entire core is metal, a sphere that is metal looks the same to radar as a ball with no metal, the reason the RCT works is because there is metallic paint in a pattern, non metallic core but with a metallic pattern on the core. This way the radar can identify a revolution. More accurate than the dot, because the ball has multiple metallic markings under the cover. This allows the radar to pick up the spinning of the ball.

Someone in the other forums tested the RCT ball with Mevo+ indoors and also directly compared with GC2 spin readings for the same shots and they were all within 200 rpm or less.

I tested them with a FlightScope Xi Tour and the Mevo+ and found the numbers to be wholly improved. My first testing was just with the Mevo+ and several clubs - metal dots vs. RCT balls. Same Pro V1/V1x. We alternated, always put the dot in the proper orientation, etc. The dotted balls gave us italic spin numbers about 1/3 of the time (my tester is 6'5" and swings fast), while the RCT balls NEVER gave an italic number. That was enough to sell me. Further testing continues to reveal REALLY good results.

whoa that's great. I can't wait for my RCT balls to arrive. probably will be next month if lucky....

when I play TGC 2019 with my Mevo+, sometimes, for example my PW will carry 185 yards when it's normally about 140 yards. and when I check the spin, it's like 1900 rpm when it should obviously be much higher. it happens few times in a round and is quite annoying. hoping it'll never happen with RCT balls.
