Range ball or standard ball selected when at range for Mevo Plus?

Today I decided to really look and read some articles regarding range balls vs premium balls. I was blown away with some of these article findings. There were some that did not show a huge difference but some that really had some big difference like the one I read from Golf magazine. I knew that there would be a difference but was just surprised by what most of the testing showed. I know mevo plus has an option to use a range ball but have seen that many people say only for flighted range balls. In one of my sessions I did select the range ball because in my first session things didn’t seem quite right for me with standard ball selected but not way off. I have used other LM and have a lot of my distance, ball speed, and other specs etc memorized so know what I would typically see from a shot. However when I did use range ball setting everything looked very good with all the numbers. Long story short(To Late) has any mevo plus users seen this or do you use the standard ball setting and everything is good for you. It could be that I’m just getting old I guess.

I have NXT Tour and Pro V1 practice balls at my indoor academy, but… there's a reason they have that setting in there, even for the Mevo+. I'd encourage you to use it when you're hitting range balls. In addition to the slower ball speed and dimple changes, range balls often launch a bit higher and have some other things, too. So if you're good enough to care about, say, your launch angle… even changing the setting won't account for all the differences. But for distances, etc. it will have a good effect.

Thank yes distance and shot shape are most important to me on the range. Have you tried the RCT ball?

I think the issue with range balls is there are so many different types (my course has limited flight) and varying degrees of beat up. I find it hard to trust any specific numbers with a range ball except for relative from shot to shot.

Definitely. Some balls fly shorter via dimples, some do it via reduced ball speed, etc.

I will take my bushnell range finder to range this weekend to confirm distance and do some of my on testing. I will test using both range and standard and see what works best. I just can’t really confirm any spin numbers. Shot shape has been spot on so far so very happy with that.
