I am torn between getting an Xi or a Skytrak. I will mostly be using it with students in our First Tee program, letting them see their distances as well as having something to use during the winter indoors and when raining. We currently have a gymnasium that we have a cage set up in. Do I really need spin rate numbers?

SkyTrak missed too many shots and I was not convinced it was a robust/durable enough unit to take to the driving range. The App software wasn't mature enough yet with version 1.8 and I was not confident on the calculated club speeds. Flightscope was a great unit but the feature you get at their price points are not enough. It is obvious they can build the hardware to sell to the masses at $2500 but simply making folks pay double, triple and even quadruple for the data didn't sit well for me. My driving range is usually muddy/sandy and I just don't see SkyTrak holding up under those conditions....might be great for a dedicated indoor unit though.Originally posted by Bubba22 View PostLastbscout, what are your requirements that both units didn't fit?

Im hoping that when the protective case is released, that may help with taking it outdoors on the range for sandy/muddy conditions. I have not tried Skytrak yet, but I am thinking it may be a little more simple to use on the iPad than Xi was. The new FS skills app was frustrating this weekend due to the freezing of the app and no driving range mode.

99% of most users want something simple like a driving range where they can monitor a group of shots. SkyTrak is the "cheapest" way to get this but the concern about durability is still there. The device is does not have any significant mass to it and I would not be comfortable carrying it in my golfbag or in a backpack.
