  • Mevo+ with portable net

I currently have a screen setup and because of the pandemic we haven't traveled in the last two years. We do have a vacation abroad planned for mid 2022 with some golfing destinations and I'm considering taking the Mevo+ with us.

Those of you with portable-style net setups, what are you using? Most of the portable nets on Amazon are of dubious quality and at 7x7 I'm concerned about wedge play from 10', plus side nets would be a bonus if anybody other than myself is playing.

I just purchased a Mevo+ (hence why this is my first post). While I'm figuring out my "real" setup I purchased a temporary net to hit into. It's a Spornia SPG-7, and seemed to get decent reviews online. Build quality is good and it seems mostly fine with a couple of caveats. It'll handle all my clubs OK, except for full swings with the 60 deg. wedge which come dangerously close to the edge of the overhanging "roof" thing at 8' back from the net. At 10' back, the 60 (and probably 56) would surely go over the net. I had a friend come over to hit who is an absolute beginner and he managed to fire off a couple of shots that escaped the net, so not having side nets is a problem with errant shots. For the price though, it's decent enough. It does pack down into a bag, but it's still roughly 4' x 4' so not something that would be very convenient to travel with. HTH

For what it's worth, the SP7 has side net extensions you can add for (I think) around $30. I looked into it but was concerned about the height issue with wedges and 4x4, while manageable, isn't as compact as I'd like.

Thanks. This did help cross it off my list.

That's actually really slick and it's available on Amazon.ca as well (most Amazon links on this forum aren't).

      Thanks

hey was wondering are you able to swing from inside the cage? would that be enough room height and length wise?

Looking to buy something thats pretty easy to take down but with enough room to hit inside of (i'm not that good so afraid of mishits)

Not tall enough to hit from the inside of the cage, but you can get pretty close to it or setup some extra side protection if needed.

I got the "pro" version of this 10 x 7 net with the extra accessory net. It's decent price, easy to set up. However, like all nets, it's going to wear out. Take a spare cheap bed sheet and put it in front of the nets so the sheet wears out instead of the net.

I put MANY balls through the net hitting a hundred-plus balls a day, it just wears out. But since I got the sheet, nothing has gone through whatsoever, I just patched the tears in the net and the sheet takes the brunt of the wear.

Edit; Also for my permanent setup I have loose 10 x 10 side and top nets, but that's not going to work for your travel plans.

The net itself comes with a carrying bag too, so bonus. Just know, it WILL wear out eventually, hence the sheet to prevent that.
