Last week Flightscope informed me they are working on releasing the Flightscope teebox geared towards simulation. The Teebox is a separate unit that works in conjunction with the X2 and sits behind the impact screen and reads short shots and putts. The way it works is when the X2 fails to read the shot or putt, the Teebox takes over and tracks the shot or putt. Flightscope plans on releasing the Teebox sometime in August of 2015. Flightscope had initially planned on releasing this in 2012 but didn't because of some issues. Here is a link to the video Par2Pro put out from the 2012 PGA show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqZC16AR8cA

You beat me to it. I heard this as well last week. My question is how expensive will th TeeBox be? The initial plan for the TeeBox was as a stand alone unit bu they had issues with I assume accuracy. How accurate will it's short game be? all unknown, especially the price!

Short game should be good.
I don't know why they can't do it with the one unit behind the Ball.
The X2 VX2 app allows the user to select a chipping mode. Why not trigger this via software when the player is within a certain # of yards of the green?
They're smart people, so I can't believe they would not see this. There must be something that won't allow it to work this way...
Anyways, the tee box better be

I would really like to know 4 things about the TeeBox: 1. What were the issues that they had with it? 2. Why is it not a stand alone system without another unit? 3. How accurate is it? 4. What is the cost?
I know Flightscope are reading this forum. It would be in their best interest to have a representative come here and clarify some things.

I talked with a flightscope rep today regarding simoptions with xi and the teebox. No info from FS HQ regarding the teebox and integration with xi. As far as he knew its only x2.Originally posted by LipOut View PostSo TeeBox will only work with X2? What about Xi??Last edited by Brutaly; 04-20-2015, 11:26 PM.

I assume so.Originally posted by Bubba22 View PostBrutaly, that's brutal! Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't the majority of Flightscope simulator users have either the xi or xi+?
But i dont think FS sold an awful lot of units of the xi and xi+. I would be surprised if its more then 1000-1500 units and i base that on the serial on the back on my almost brand new unit. I actually believe there are more X2/Kudo/etc out there that might infact be a bigger market. But im speculating.
One more thing that also concerns me is that a full blown sim will unlock the true potential in Xi and Xi+, after all its the "same" radar as Xi tour and X2, and i think FS wants to be very carefully to not upset their customers. Just imagine if you bought an X2 elite and they release a simulator for Xi (1/4 of the price) with all that data unlocked. I would be seriously pissed off.
But on the other hand, no info isnt the same as it aint gonna happen.

Well i can see what they are trying to do, a radar for the consumer (Xi) and one for the fitter/builder/trainer (Xi+) with a budget. What i dont get is the Xi Tour.
Dont get me wrong, i find the Xi+ to be great value for me and and probably one of the most affordable (price/performance) launch monitors out there but i think they made a mistake with the implementation of the software locking. Marketing the exact same radar in three models with a pricespan of 2000 to 8000 euros might seem as a good idea. But if we assume this will hit big for them in the consumer market, the xi will be wide open for piracy and as soon there is a critical mass of consumers the Xi+ and Tour will be dead.
I would have just launched one Xi model and instead used a subscription model where I as the customer could choose what data and features (sim being one) i would like to buy. One base app and microtransaction within the app. This way they could have used the xi price point to get people into the program and the subscription to drive revenues.
As it is now they might have built a porfolio thats just a nightmare from several different perspectives.
