  • Is anyone else disappointed with TGC 2019 & Flightscope Mevo + playability?

    Hey all,

First time poster here, just thought I'd share my frustrations with the software & to see if anyone else is in the same boat as me??

    Here it goes:

So I purchased my Flightcope Mevo + & TGC 2019 2 years ago, & never really used the TGC 2019 as I'd like. Now that I've transformed my garage into a golf studio, I've had a lot more time to play and attempt to trouble shoot any possible issues.

I'm a PGA of Canada Class "A" Professional ( I say this as humble as I can), by no means am I Tiger Woods, but I can hold my own on the course as a competitive player.

    My frustrastations:

    - Unrealistic ball flight physics. Seems to be very sensitive to curvature, balls slicing & drawing all over the place.
    - Holding greens are almost impossible, launch seems way to low.
    - Putting issues registering ( I don't mind this as much as poor ball flight physics. )

I've tried to remain patient, hoping the upgrades & updates would diagnose these issues. I've tried everything possible to from a set up standpoint to cure the issues, with no prevail.

I'm at the point where I think I need to sell off my license, as my patience has completely worn thin.

Amazing how accurate the FS Golf app is & E6, how can this not translate to TGC 2019?

    Anybody care to chime in??

    Cheers.

I have not played E6 at all so I don't know how it compares. FS Golf seems to show more realistic flight. It is frustrating when I hit a bit of a draw or leave the face open a bit I get drastic results on TGC. It is very hard to get a straight ball. The greens have been improved a bit but they still bounce and roll out a bit more than the would in real life. I like that TGC gives you so many courses to play. I enjoy playing the video game version but the simulator version doesn't react the same. I put a lot of spin on a ball and its crazy that nothing ever backs up or at least holds.

open the TGC settings file on the desktop and change Spin Correction ON to OFF, you can also change the stimp on greens however it is not the same as a stimp read so setting 5 doesnt mean 5 ft. Play with these to see what you like best

Had to back up my ball to screen otherwise even my draws would slice.

totally agree - right/left spin seems exaggerated. distances perhaps 1/2 club long. putting very difficult. chipping better with recent updates. 6 foot gimmies painful. i play no putt leagues almost exclusively, which helps ease the pain around the greens.

when i had skytrak with the OG TGC it was fantastic... tried tons of fixes for mevo+ with TGC 19 and never even got close to how good everything was with skytrak & OG TGC

Thanks for the reply guys. My frustration has boiled over, it's funny with E6 on 10 foot gimmies, I'll shoot anywhere between -3 / -8. Consistently under par, hitting plenty fairways & greens. On TGC I can barely break 90. I've tried to stay patient & hoping updates would improve the playability, I just can't take it, which is a shame because some of the golf courses are incredible with LIDAR etc.

I agree that right and left is over exaggerated in TGC for Mevo+ users. E6 and FS golf apps seem just fine, so not sure why TGC is off. I still play it and just compensate. I play a draw, but in TGC I aim way out right and it seems to work out. Just have to adjust to it. Perhaps it will improve with new updates to firmware or with pro package.. I'll get a chance to test later today since I just downloaded .20 FW this afternoon. Will be interesting to see if this helps any.

Uggg … I was super pleased with mevo+ and the original 5 courses that are included so I decided to also get the tgc because of the improved social aspect of it.

I read up and all I saw was a couple random comments about how rh spin was slightly exaggerated on tgc 2019. If I knew how much the spin is exaggerated I would never have put up the money for tgc. It disappoints me that I am finding this thread now (after the money was spent)

I'm also very pleased with the Mevo +. I use it alot of with my students, the FS Golf App is spot in. Did a nice comparison video the other day Mevo + Pro Package vrs. Trackman 4. Let's just say the Mevo held it's own. I was VERY pleased with the data.

E6 works well on my Ipad, True ball flights in terms of curvature, apex, carry & how receptive they are when they land. In E6 I am constantly flying the ball flag high with some spin. TGC I'm landing short & running it to the flag. Just doesn't feel right, even when I try to hoist the ball up with a high trajectory, the ball just seems to fall out of the sky in TGC 2019.

I don't know, not trying to sound like a Debbie Downer, if I knew the game was going to perform like this, I would spent the $ on E6 for PC.

Pro Tee support is on point. They've been helpful in trying to solve the manner with remote access to PC with Teamviewer.

Noticing that swing path data is not being sent from Mevo + to TGC, I suspect this a major issue.

I don't think that is the issue. As far as I know the swing metrics don't influence the ball flight, just the ball data. Even though the swing path doesn't show on the TGC interface, I think the correct swing path is being sent. We should verify this with Protee. What is incorrect is the face to path measurement which Protee are looking at correcting.

Bubba22 - I've noticed the same....shorter distances in FS range. But in TGC I'm getting a lot more fliers out of the rough. Approach shots are blowing way over the green and when I look at the spin, it's way low.

I'm running all the latest updates and firmware, but have not upgraded to Pro Pkg yet.

Interesting. I thought that once the Flightscope TGC interface was updated, that they added some new parameters in there. I played 18 holes & noticed all the new data was being sent, except for path.

The TGC shot analysis has always had club data (estimated data) through an algorythm. The interface was always setup to send club data from units that measured club data such as the Protee simulator. With the Mevo plus Pro package the club data is now being sent but the interface shows no club path for whatever reason. The shot analysis does show club path which I think is from the Mevo plus.

I believe the swing path that data that is being shown in the shot analysis from TGC is still an estimated algorhythm. Just based on my averages in FS Golf, I'm a a draw bias player the will swing no more that 2 degree's in/out, I've seen some pretty wonky swing paths readings, like 6-7 degree in to out. The ball is going all over the place.

You may be right doon. Protee is aware and are investigating as we speak.

I had the same issue with the greens when I first set it up back in November. Changed the stimp to 5 and set green speed in the game to fast. everything else to default. Much more realistic to the courses here in AZ.
