Flightscope interface spin axis - issue known

Over the past few years myself and other users have noticed the flightscope spin axis didn’t feel right. For example you could have a full wedge in and it would banana hook or fade producing frustrating and unrealistic simulated shots.

This issue wasn’t isolated to tgc2019. In a few other simulators (games) I own I experienced the same effect, however strangely it never occurred in fs golf or fs skills.

recently I read a post that indicated the solution to the issue I have been having with golf simulators for the past 18 months, spin axis issues. It was explained that fs have their own flight model and the spin axis result is for their flight model. However, as each simulator has their own flight model potentially the fs spin axis is not suitable as a raw feed into golf simulators not using the fs flight model.

One of the other simulator brands this week decided to take the fs offline (miss left/right) measurement that is provided by fs devices. Using the offline parameter they produced an algorithm based on their in game flight model to produce the spin axis required for their game to miss offline the reported amount (assume this includes many other inputs from fs ball model; carry, back spin, ball speed). The results are outstanding and over night my issue has gone away with ball flight matching that of fs golf.

this could also be achieved in tgc 2019. As the fs interface is source code that protee have control over they could use the offline number to produce a spin axis that results in the correct offline (miss left/right) distance (from centre) for the tgc 2019 flight model. This fix being implemented would be a great improvement for all fs users and would enable us to achieve fs golf level ball flight within tgc2019.

I hope someone with the power to make this happen reads this post.

I can only vouch for that too. I was questioning myself if I'd really hit those crazy curves due to such a high spin axis. Hope this gets done, would be awesome.

With the fix added to the interface along with prov1 rct support would be amazing.

I have the same issues with tgc 2019. Spin Axis produces just way to much curve on every shot. E6 on the other hand does not and for me is the most playable / enjoyable simulator game to play with Mevo +. Don't get me wrong, I still play a ton of tgc 2019, but always fighting that curve on every shot. I would love for it to be fixed, but I have no idea how to do that. For the "other golf sim" that can't be mentioned here, where in the settings can this be fixed?

I figured out what the setting was in the not to be mentioned simulator program. Works wonders!! If they can get this interface over to tgc 2019 it will be a game changer for that software. Hoping ProTee is aware of it, and from what I can tell from discord they are aware, but just waiting for flightscope to provide the latest SDK. Until they fix it I think I'll be logging more rounds in that other software program.

On a side note, have there been any rumors about simulator play coming to tgc 2023? When will the next simulator port occur?

TGC is unplayable right now with Mevo+. I have been considering changing sim software.

The unmentionable software is excellent and only getting better by the week. If you have not tried it I highly suggest it. You will have to configure a setting on the interface to correct the spin axis. ( This corrects the side spin issue for the software to match the FS App offline representation ) Once I made this discovery I haven't looked back. Rounds are so enjoyable and the graphics are excellent. Driver now stays on the course and the ball reacts how I would suspect it would.

I'm 100% with you on TGC being almost unplayable. Driver shots that would have maybe 5 - 10 yard draws are like 25 - 35 yard draws or hooks. I learned to live with it by just aiming 20 yards right all the time, but it's been an issue for forever. E6 on the other hand I could take dead aim and hit drives straight all day long. So the unmentionable software is now like E6 for me with the offline setting enabled. I can take dead aim and if I hit a good shot it's going to the target. Makes the game so much more enjoyable.

I do hear that once the new SDK is released that Pro-Tee will also correct the spin axis issues and support RCT balls. That will be huge for us users as well. Until then I've found my new sim software and may never go back to TGC.

I also hear that the unmentionable software will have this permanently fixed without the need to set the offline fix in the interface in the next update they provide.. So for those of you reading this in a couple weeks time this will likely just be fixed in that software without any action.

I would suggest anyone with both E6 and TGC to do some testing to see how TGC over-estimates spin axis. It's usually double to triple the distance offline in TGC as it is to E6. Maybe this would be less of an issue if I had 14 feet of ball flight, but I'm at 10.5 feet and can't use "indoor mode". So maybe this is only an issue for us "Short Indoor" folks. Would be interested in other peoples results of this test.

Do we know if Protee is on the lastest SDK and included RCT ball support and especially spin axis?

Yes, we recently had the latest version validated by Flightscope development in South Africa: https://download.protee-united.com/f...tgcfssetup.exe
Just run in the installer and it will update to the latest version.

Thanks, will update! Out of interest: when did this update happen? Haven't updated since purchasing, so just downloading, running this .exe and I should be good to go?

Not sure. Maybe 1 or 2 months after Flightscope released RCT support.
          Working...
