I sent back my Skytrak, it was missing too many shots, and could never get the Wifi to sync. I am considering the Flightscope for my indoor setup. I only have 8' from tee to net, however, Flightscop has told me that within a month, they will have an update which could allow accurate results from this distance. My question is, does anyone use this machine strictly indoors, or am I crazy to even consider it? Since I work until 5:00 most days, my golf course I live on is closed, and I do not have a chance to hit balls. I just want to pound balls into a net to groove a swing with good accuracy. Is the Foresight worth twice the price for the indoor setup?

I think you might be fine at that distance. I use an X2 at ten feet or so, but have to move up to 8-9' to be able to contain my GW and LW. I also had a ST for a couple months and while I loved their story and possibilities down the road of the platform, I too was disappointed with a couple things (distances, constant laser splash around the ball,and various roadmap items...timing and lack of availability, really).
I've had the FS for three months and have hit over 3,000 balls, all inside my garage. My son has another 1,000+. We both use various Combines that we've setup in our Playbook and I'm completely satisfied with it in every respect. Last night I did some 7 iron testing between some vintage blades and my current gamer and thought, once again, how incredibly accurate and confident I am in the results.

If Flightscope really can get the tee to screen distance down to 8', I'd be pumped.
I'm at 13', as recommended, from my screen now with my Xi.
I'd be interested in knowing how they're going to do this seeing as though a driver shot wouldn't have the metallic sticker facing the radar at all even during a 8' flight. How would they measure total spin?Comment

I sent back my skytrak too because of the foolish customer service. Does the xi $2500.00 version show ball spin? It's hard to find good info.Comment

It's all to do with your ballspeed. If you're up to 170mph with driver you will need the full distance but if you're closer to 150 as I am you'd only need 10 feet. This is the calculation for the ball to revolved fully twice before hitting the net. It really needs these 2 revoltions to be confident that spin is being measured correctly. For other clubs with higher spins you'll easily get 2 revs in 8 feetComment

I went by flightscope today and met with Tyler. We set up the ball 8' from the net and the radar 7' from the ball and hit. It captured every shot and the results appeared to correlate well with how I hit the ball. I have full confidence in its accuracy and love the iPad app. Almost pulled the trigger but want to demo the foresight first.Comment

From the Flightscope site "Due to the short ball flight distance in an indoor golf swing simulator set up, FlightScope requires that the ball be marked with a metal sticker to get accurate spin readings. Only one sticker is required per ball. The golf ball is placed with the sticker facing the screen, away from the clubface"
This would seem to be a major PITA as it requires a sticker on every ball hit and a specific orientation before hitting.placement. Buy a used GC2 and call it a day. . No ball flight minimums (well it does require a few inches),no ball orientation required and +/- 50 rpm spin accuracy..Comment

I have to use the metal dot in my set-up and it is not that much of an issue. The only time I really fuss is when teeing the ball up, where I make sure the dot faces up. The rest of the time I tend to just ensure the dot faces away from the radar with my club.Comment
