  • Indoor Flightscope use

I sent back my Skytrak, it was missing too many shots, and could never get the Wifi to sync. I am considering the Flightscope for my indoor setup. I only have 8' from tee to net, however, Flightscop has told me that within a month, they will have an update which could allow accurate results from this distance. My question is, does anyone use this machine strictly indoors, or am I crazy to even consider it? Since I work until 5:00 most days, my golf course I live on is closed, and I do not have a chance to hit balls. I just want to pound balls into a net to groove a swing with good accuracy. Is the Foresight worth twice the price for the indoor setup?

Goatbarn this is from Alex at flightscope

Billy we have new firmware that can track at 15 ft of total space. If you'd like we can set up your radar to those parameters. It would be done through a TeamViewer session through the Version 10.0.1 PC Software.

the reason why flightscope told me this. Is because it's not accurate on 3/4 pitch shots. All my 3/4 wedge shots seem to carry too far by at least ten yards. Think the reason is the spin rate, its showing 2500-3000 rpm when I play a 3/4 pitch with a 60 degree wedge.

The only benefit of the GC2 was placement.

My Xi+ arrived today and they installed the latest software which will allow placement 8' from the net.
You must have missed the used part.

I bought a GC2 all the software plus 10 other courses, a laptop with a suitable graphics card, a steel launch monitor protector and all the associated cabling for 6500. This runs a full simulation of all the courses and ranges and/or shots from any place on the courses you want with a few inches of ball flight and no distance behind where the ball is struck. It doesn't care what kind of lights I use since the unit is properly shielded from any stray RFI generated. It also doesn't care whet the garage door is made of or what metal anything is behind or to the side of the hitting cage. It's accuracy for what it measures is actually published by the manufacturer in numerical units not "very good, excellent" etc.

Similar deals or even better deals on used units are available all the time.

If you like your Flightscope indoors fine with me. I would not have chosen that unit for indoor use with limited space. Outdoors as a launch monitor only it is an excellent choice.

Hmm, billy...do you care to be the guinea pig and try out the new firmware and let me know?

I'm curious as to how it effects the short game stuff.

3/4 wedge with a 60, depending on CHS, should be around 7-8k spin. I've had no trouble spinning 3/4 wedges, could be your mat?

Ok, did anyone try the firmware update, yet?

I have roughly 23ft (7,2m) between my Xi and the net. Wedge readings are crappy (the app shows smash factor in only 60% of the cases - I assume it does not read club data well). Using a fiberbuilt mat.

@Billydruce: any news working with Alex on your wedge problems?

What is your distance from radar to where you hit? What is your smash factor when you get a reading? If you are hitting right hand have you tried to place the ball more right of center?

Wedges are hard for the doppler radar to get club readings either in or outdoors due to the low smash....meaning the ball isn't going that much faster than the club right after impact.

Less than full wedges are even harder to read club data.

I get about 75% readings of club data on wedges I'd say.

I'm ok with that, since I'm not really worried about my face/path angles when the ball really doesn't curve much with a wedge anyways. I'm just aiming for carry distance, which will be accurate.

I have an Epson home cinema 2030. It's not short throw, but full HD an has been working great for a year now. Hands down the best screen I've seen an use is from Westcoast netting. Pr-20 white.

Is there any simulation software that will work with the flightscope xi plus? Looks like trugolf.com e6 cloud is delayed once again.

Have you ever used par2pro HQ screen? From what I hear, this has the best image. I currently have PR20, it's great as an impact screen, but it has a lot of bleed through and i think the image quality is good but not great.

I've had the pr20 and now the hq. HQ is more expensive for a reason. Night and day image quality difference.

I have not seen or tried the HQ, is there a website? I would like to check it out. Always looking for better . I did put a black sheet behind the PR20 for bleed thru.

goatbarn is there a way to get the FS Xi plus to work with the e6 demo?
