So I was one of the OG purchasers of Mevo+ ( got my unit in Sept 2020 ). Been through all the ups and downs over the years and really think it's an amazing product once you pair it up with the right software.
I have the following software: TGC2019, Awesome Golf, E6 and GS... you know the rest that can't be posted here.
My big mistake was spending too much time trying to get TGC2019 to work similar to the other sim software. The excessive side spin and inconsistent spin rates were the primary issue on TGC2019. So I made the switch to GS... Now don't get me wrong, there were some issues with that product as well, but I can tell you as of late the sim experience now is as good as it gets. Even the putting is decent enough to make it worth while. My advice to any new or future Mevo+ buyer is to not mess with any other sim software and just go directly to GS...
I do believe ProTee / TGC2019 was to be given the updated Mevo+ SDK to fix sidespin and support RCT, but several people ( including myself ) have posted on Discord to ProTee / TGC 2019 asking for updates and it's been nothing for several months. I really do think ProTee has given up on supporting Mevo+ and other software companies have stepped up to deliver a better product.
Again, the quirks of TGC2019 (excessive side spin, erratic spin readings and estimations, first bounce issue, uphill lie issue, putting issues, etc ) with Mevo+ are simply too much to make it a playable sim when you compare it to the other offerings that are available. There was a time where I simply knew all the quirks and just compensated for them to play the game, but looking back it was all just band-aids and duct tape. If you have a 5 yard draw with your driver in TGC2019 it will be a 20 yard draw so I would just aim 20 yards right in the game. You can compare this almost head to head with the FS app. Hit 5 drives in FS app and 5 in TGC2019 and you will see excessive spin issues and curve in TGC2019.
The Mevo+ is a fantastic unit. I just had it paired with the wrong software for too long, and I tried way too hard to make it work with TGC2019. Don't make the same mistake that I did unless Protee / TGC2019 start to address some issues to make it worth it. If you are struggling with your unit and TGC2019 I suggest you try out some other simulator offerings to see how it performs. It really is a great product if you have the space for it. With recent firmware updates putting and distances are as accurate as ever. It's been a bumpy 3 year journey, but I think they have got it figured out pretty well at this point. Kudos to FS and GS... for nailing it. This is how Sim golf should be. Just took some years to finally get all the kinks ironed out.
Lessons learned:
RCT balls really do work if you have the right FS interface supporting your sim software
You don't need 8 feet from Mevo+ to ball ( you can get away with 7 feet )
The more ball flight the better ( 8 feet is tight if you have ball speed over 155 with driver )
You will improve if you use the numbers and work on your swing
Helps to putt from closer to the Mevo+ unit
Proper tilt and leveling matters
For sure Mevo+ needs to be on the same level as your hitting matt ( no gap between Mevo+ and hitting matt )
Titleist Pro V1's last the best over every other ball I've hit ( Soft compression balls crack really fast at 155+ ball speed )
FS app driver distance is a bit short vs real life / other launch monitors ( not by much though )
FS app Irons are pretty spot on for me
Love taking it to the outdoor range or golf course ( yes, it's that portable )
E6 is too forgiving to help your game
TGC2019 has too many issues to bother with
Awesome Golf is AWESOME, but not as good as GS...
GS... is miles ahead if you want simulator golf ( if you are just now getting into this space you picked the right time as many bugs and issues have been resolved )
