    Foil faced insulation

    Hi everyone.
Just picked up a used X2 that will be here in a few days. I'm going to be putting something dedicated together (probably a new room off the basement) in the spring but wanted to get something setup to test it out and hit some balls over the winter.

I'm in the process of finishing my basement and some of the walls have RMax Thermalsheath3 insulation on them. This is an aluminum foil faced, rigid foam insulation. http://www.rmax.com/products/wall-pr...hermasheath-3/
I haven't dry walled yet so the insulation is exposed.

I think I know the answer, but how will this affect the radar? I'm going to be putting up a mesh tarp from Harbor Freight to hit into, so the foil will be covered by the tarp. http://m.harborfreight.com/12-ft-x-1...arp-60584.html

I know there are issues with metal garage doors but curious if anyone has run into this before?

Thanks all, really excited to see what this thing can do.

I just finished building my room, I used similar insulation and everything works fine. I have drywall for the first 5 feet and plywood for the rest of the room. The Plywood is covered with carpet padding and black suiting material, not sure if that makes a difference vs. drywall.

I guess I'm most concerned about effects in the short term while the insulation is exposed. I just wasn't sure how picky the FS is with stuff like this, or if that thin foil wouldn't even affect its readings. Is it generally pretty obvious when the radar results are being skewed by external factors such as lights and metal objects? I just didn't want to set up and get results that are believable but are off because of something like the insulation. I'd think the mesh tarp would probably take care of it, but honestly wasn't sure.

I think foil directly in line with the radar may be an issue.

I suppose you can maybe temporarily cover it with something like plywood...

I would not take a chance and would cover it. However experiment first. My experience was that my metal garage door was causing TM to not register some shots. I did remote sessions with TM and their guys felt they could resolve the issue and believe they might have included something in an update. I just got impatient and moved my sim after we had dealt with the issue to a location that I ended up being much happier with (I just had to accept 9'2 ceiling height ).

Thanks for the responses. I'll see what it does first, then if I get weird readings just throw plywood over it till I finish the basement all the way. I think I have enough scraps around to just lay it over.

I just wasn't sure if it would not read at all or if it would skew the readings. Hope to test out today.
