  • Contemplating move from Skytrak to GC2

    hi guys,

what with skytrak moving the goalposts on the required base software in order to use TGC from the game improvement plan £89 per year to the Play and improve @ £189 per year I'm contemplating switching to a GC2, it's not the cost difference but the unethical business practice that making me think about jumping ship.

my skytrak is in my garage connected via wifi to my pc in my office, I know the gc2 uses Bluetooth, does anyone know how you'd connect the gc2 to a pc that is approx 15m away?

Usb extension cable with extended range bluetooth adapter might work?

        *DO IT*

I dumped mine over a year ago when they moved the goalposts (read: LIED) about the GIP being a one time fee. Now, they are doubling it on people? Skygolf is one of the most unethical companies out there. The entire company is based on recurring revenue models.

Bluetooth dongle plugged into a USB extension cord is your answer. That said, you may be pushing distance limits for USB. You'll need an active repeating cable for sure.

Foresight has some highly questionable business practices also. Read up if necessary. If you really want to "vote with your wallet" better to reward companies like Protee. (Besides the Protee system is as good your Skytrak and a lot cheaper than a gc2.)

reviews look good. I wonder if you could then use two wifi access points in bridge mode and then be able to wireless screen USB

I did it and never looked back. If you can afford the units up front costs, I think its clearly superior. I could never get past the delay of sky track, nor could I justify a software subscription on a purchased unit.

Make the switch... You'll be glad you did! Just use a USB extension cable with your Bluetooth adapter. I recommend a high quality 3.0 cable. I've had to change cables. Believe it or not cable quality really matters.

Foresight and SkyTrak has totally different business practices. Some claim Foresight made a poor customer service decision adding the $500 service charge for buyers of used units. People are entitled to their opinion, but if you call Foresight and ask them why they made this choice, you can make your own assessment. Their reasons makes perfect sense, and I actually agree with them. SkyTrak customer support is close to non-existent.

I was just posting about this in another thread. I made the switch and you couldn't pay me to go back. So, I'll join in with the others in encouraging you to make the switch.

I am interested in a gc2 as well. Being pushed over by SkyGolfs latest stunt. Where can one pick up a used gc2 ?

Does anyone miss just connecting to your iPad to have a driving range and ball flight? It's very convenient vs firing up the laptop every time or bringing that to a golf dome.
Plus buying FSX if you don't like TGC as your only range option. Anyone miss this or no?

New GC2 $6000. New SkyTrak $2000. Can often find used GC2 for at or under $4500.

Besides TGC which I have, what range options are there? My pro has a gc2, with the basic range, I think FR1? How much does that cost?

I'm contemplating a move away as well. Does the GC2-A require an apple device to work with TGC?

SkyTrak_Seth This comment was made while we were all waiting for a response from Skytrak regarding the proposed yearly price hike. I am glad to see that your company is listening and working with us (the customers).
