TGC / GSX / Protee Interface settings for Practice Balls on GC2

Hi Guys/Ladies, I'm a relatively recent GC2 owner using the FSX software. I see alot of the TGC/GC2 posts are from a few years ago so it is good to see a recent one that says it appears to be working with the latest GC2 firmware which I plan on installing in coming weeks. If anyone could assist with the questions below it would be greatly appreciated as it's definitely a blurry topic considering the interface between what seems to be two non-cooperative companies. Also, with a lack of user manuals on software nowadays, I have some TGC / GSX / Protee Interface specific questions.Ultimately, I would like to have the option of using practice balls with my GC2 for operation in more sensitive areas. I understand the level of realism goes out the window and therefore Foresight will not endorse any such idea.

    - Has anyone procured the software from Protee United inc. TGC, GSX and Protee interface semi recently? They seemed to be hesitant in providing information regarding TGC working with GC2, but I need confirmation that it will otherwise why would I purchase it?

    - Did anything come of that SDK fee from Foresight for newer firmware versions to allow the use of TGC with a GC2?

    - Is TGC fully functional without internet access? I don't normally have my simulator PC online.

    - Can you play multiplayer games without playing online? I read somewhere it is single player only with online competitions.

    - The main differences using practice balls (Almost Golf balls for example) is the reduced ball speed (and hence carry) as well as the lower launch angle (I think the spin levels are very usable already). Is there anyway of changing the ball speed or more importantly the ball carry using either an adjustment within GSX or Protee interface essentially boosting this value, or not as ideal but maybe there is a boost function within the game? I see something that says "Practiceball speed increase factor" in one of the softwares, so that is a good start.

    - Is there a way of adjusting values within GSX / Protee interface to increase that launch angle?

    - Am I correct somewhat in that when connecting the GC2 to PC via Bluetooth the GC2 provides raw values that GSX can interpret. GSX then provides these values to the Protee interface which in turn sends useable data to TGC? If so surely lots of variables are adjustable as TGC shouldn't be setup to use real values I wouldn't have thought.

    Many many thanks in advance!

    Thanks in advance

I bought TGC in Jan and it works great with gc2. You can boost settings in gsx to adjust for almost golf balls. I paid a sdk fee the first week foresight unveiled it and if they did anything with my firmware I'm not aware of it but works fine. I would doubt TGC is functional without internet but someone else may be able to confirm.

TGC allows offline play but only with a limited number of courses. Multi play does not need Internet for local play buy obviously does for play over the Internet. The game is a lot better with Internet.

Thanks for the responses guys. Where did you procure your TGC from? Did you specifically request GSX and protee interface?

I'm interested in attempting without the SDK initially.

Any idea of how many courses without the internet is possible?

It's been a while since I used TGC w/o internet access, but I remember it being just a few courses, like 5 maybe? If I wasn't going to have internet access, I would personally shy away from TGC. If you already have FSX, I would just stick with that.

And you're correct that ProTee will tell you that GC2 is not supported with TGC, but it obviously works fine for all of us.

I understand your point about staying clear of TGC if using without internet, but you can see the whole point of this post is to find a software that can allow me to make adjustments such that the GC2 can be uses with practice balls. In order to do this, I need an interfacing software such as GSX that can be used to make adjustments to the game input values. I can't do this with FSX since the algorithms are all locked down within the software for obvious reasons.

Pretty ridiculous that they can't just tell me what I need to buy to get TGC functional on my GC2, yet I see so many stories of them remote connecting in to assist people in getting it up and running, where is the logic.

All you need to do is order TGC. Everything you need is included. You select GSX, TGC, and Protee interface in the install files. It's boxes you click. Once installed you follow the detailed instructions very carefully on the foresight forum here. It's super easy.

The he reason it is unsupported is legal nonsense. If you need help there's resources. There's 15 offline courses including a range.

Thanks mthunt, that is the confident response that I needed. I'll give it an order and go from there. I'm actually quite disappointed with the FSX software in terms of game play and most definitely in terms of cost. It really isn't their specialty, but the hardware is excellent.

FR1 by foresight might also be an option. It has boost settings unlike fsx and since the courses are stored locally on your hd, internet isn't needed. I have all three (fsx, fr1, TGC) and play them all for different reasons. FWIW. Can't go wrong with TGC though.

brock Hi Brock, thanks heaps for that. I never even pondered FR1 as I just assumed that it is an old version of FSX. Can you still even download it? Will I need to purchase it or will it work with my current FSX dongle?
