I looked at the videos of the FSX courses on the Foresight website. Subpar in looks and variety, yet they appear to charge large sums for them.
I hope their improvement system is better than their playing system.
I've never seen a real review that compares playing FSX courses vs TGC (or JNPG, or others). I'll bet the 3rd party simulators are all ahead. Division of labor, and core competencies would explain this.

I have both FSX and TCG.
FSX is actually superior to all of the other golf sim software in all areas but one--graphics. And there, it lags behind badly.
TGC is a golf video game that was ported over from PC. It is graphically impressive. But as far as other features, it stinks. You can't even play from different tees.
Apparently, all of the shortcomings are being addressed with TCG2. The video game is out, but release date on the sim is uncertain right now.

You are right on Ookie. Forgot to mention the course selection between the two.

Totally agree here.
I have FSX, TGC and ProTee. With the exception of the graphics, FSX is by far the best 'simulator' software.
The practice facilities / challenges, the HMT integration (obviously - as it's their own product!), and the ability to add a camera make this heads and tails above the rest.
I also find playing rounds of golf much more realistic in FSX. Probably down to the fact this is specifically implemented simulator software rather than an arcade game.
I haven't switched TGC or ProTee on for nearly a year now since getting FSX, and I'm using FSX at least twice a week.Last edited by p3eps; 09-06-2017, 08:35 AM.

The simulator features implemented in FSX and the integration with FS hardware are really great. Most simulator software products are ported over from PC.
E6 -> ported over from video game Links LS
FR1 -> ported over from video game World Golf Challenge 2011 (also know as Custom Play Golf)
FSX -> ported over from FR1
ProTee Golf 2.0 -> ported over from video game Custom Play Golf
TGC -> ported over from video game TGC
GSA Golf -> ported over from video game Custom Play Golf
JPNG -> ported over from video game Perfect Golf
P3 ProX -> ported over from video game Custom Play Golf
BoGolf -> ported over from video game Custom Play Golf

I absolutely couldn't believe that Tiger Woods beat out Links back in the day. But its video games, and controlling spin in the air was more fun to gamers than realism..Last edited by BadEddieKit; 09-07-2017, 03:15 PM.

Thank you, indeed an educational list.
A small correction though: FSX was created from scratch on a brand new engine. Nothing ported from FR-1.
Cheers!

Are you from Foresight? Did you guys know how good the GC2 was when you made it? Seriously. It’s bulletproof and the used market is still pulling enormous dollars. I’m not sure I’ll ever upgrade but the Hawk sure has my attention.Originally posted by pmerlotti View Post

I am. Yes, we still receive GC2's with low 100's serial number for cleanup and they are still working in perfect orderOriginally posted by mthunt View Post
