  • Good camera for Foresight FSX

    Hi guys,

i know there a many posts, but im looking for something special.
I'm playing with GC2+HMT and FSX for training mode.
In FSX you can easy add a USB camera - tried it with a normal USB webcam.

I want a camera with the following specs:
    - min 120 fps
    - for front view
    - working with FSX
    - distance ball <-> camera 2.7 yards / 2.5 meters
    - pricy <500
Would be nice if i dont have to start the camera and activate slow motion function.
Will be great if i start the computer and the camera works immediately without pushing any button (-:

    Thanks for help!!
    Philip

I just purchased the GC Quad and was wondering if anyone uses their Live View Golf Camera with FSX or if its even compatible. https://liveviewsports.com/

I am wondering whether astronomy cameras will work with FSX. ASI cameras have some good options - larger sensors than the usual 1/3 and high frame rates... they also come with a 2.1mm focal length lens.

I have one that I use for astrophotography that I am going to try... just need a lens adapter (which i lost!) that I have ordered to arrive.

This one above is mine and has a 1/2.8 inch sensor (which should give a 13ft by 10ft FOV from 6ft away) but there is one I am looking at with a global shutter and 1/1.2 inch sensor.

      The one I have has a frame rate of 384fps at 10bit 640x480 resolution and 170fps at 10bit 1936×1096.

So prior to the lens adapter arriving I loaded the drivers today for the camera, which includes the requirement of the DirectShow driver to allow the camera to operate as a webcam...

The Directshow driver doesn;t play with FSX2020... 2 seconds of loading FSX on opening and then a crash... unistalled DirectShow driver and FSX ok again. This MIGHT be because I installed the camera drivers that came with the FSX installation package, so will try uninstalling those and having another go.

Update - could never get FSX2020 working when a DirectShow driver is installed. Crashed FSX2020 at start up no matter what I did.
Went a different route and bought some inexpensive IR cameras for now. Shame because the camera I had works perfectly with the DirectShow driver and creates a very wide FOV and good frame rate.

I use the dragon 2 cameras from swing catalyst ( I eventually bought the software). They work well and in FSX as well.

On swing Catalyst they are $249, but you can buy direct from manufacturer:

Not sure what they charge, if you search for the model number: kyt-u100-mcs2812gs1 there are lots of people selling them.

You can crank the brightness up but i use some construction lights to light up the hitting area and they are really good then.

Purchased a couple of cameras - 260fps at 640*360, 120fps at 720p, 60fps at 1080p They are IR night vision. Cheapish (£60 each) , so if they don't work, not much harm done. 2.1mm lens at 1/3, OV4689 sensor.

            Couple of things to remember:

            1. If you are far from the computer then get USB active repeater cables (monoprice ones are good and pretty cheap). DONT go USB over Ethernet - I tried and no matter what I did it would not work for some reason.
            2. Make sure you put the two cameras on different USB BUS controllers. Simplest way is to buy a $15 dollar USB pci card, attach one camera to that and the other to the onboard USB. If they are on the same BUS I found some issues with one of the cameras disconnecting now and then. Since I have used two controllers have not had one.

I have two cameras recognized and working. Can see both in the old minimal location but playback is only camera 1. Any ideas how to see camera 2 playback on review?

From the other users I have talked to, it cannot do this automatically. You can see the camera 2 by selecting it, I think it's in the lower left, you will see cam 1 and cam2 just switch it there to see the video. It seem like a big oversight to not playback both. Also, why do they not have a step by step back button when reviewing video. They have it going forward, but not back. Another swing and miss.

philipgabriel@gmx.com In the first video I did on GCQuad I did demonstrate using a simple Logitech Brio. You can see the setup of it along with several replays about 26 minutes in if that helps at all. This clearly has blur but not bad for those looking for general feedback at a $199 price point that is simple plug and play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17cK65gFsi4

Here you go again spamming your channel. The guy asked his question 2 and 1/2 years ago!

I came across the question just like others have and I am sure will for a long time, and the video has useful information for the question. Far from spamming. I even pointed out where it shows it in the video 26min in so they did not have to search. I don't understand your aggressive behavior? I have been helping hundreds of people, most of the time dozens a day with questions and information thru PM's but just because you don't need it, everything is spam? Also, you said I sell stuff, I don't sell anything. I have connections and if someone asks I refer them so they get the best deal and customer service available, that's all. So check your facts.
