  • GC2 charger died

so, I was playing on TGC last night, with the charger plugged in to my GC2. I went to hit a shot and it didn't read. I looked at the GC2 and screen was blank. I tried pushing the power button but nothing. I checked the charger to see if it was plugged into the wall and the GC2 and it was. I noticed the green light on the charger was not lighting up.

eventually, the GC2 powered back up and the battery was charged, so it appears to have charged until everything went dead. played some more on the GC2 unplugged. power voltage reading went down. I plugged the charger back into the GC2, but the voltage meter did not increase.

my charger is dead. how to I get a replacement? how does a charger die?

    thanks for the help!

If it’s the same as the GcQuad, 2.4-2.6 amps, 15v.... whatever, see the specs on the charger. You can go get one that atches off of Amazon for $25, or you can get one fro Foresight for like $70.

it seems different then... input: 100-240VAC 1.5A 50-60Hz; output: 15V-4A
and I don't know what the pin connector size is...

4 amps may be hard to find. Look on amazon for one that has multiple tips. You could also call Foresight tech support and ask the specs needed.

But again, may be easier just to get one from Foresight.

true. I bought this thing used. do you think foresight will charge me the $500 transfer fee to just buy a charger?

Definitely DO NOT pay $500 for a charger. The charger is likely not made by them. You can try getting a hold of the manufacturer for an exact replacement. All the info should be on the power supply.

You sure your specs are correct? I found this thread and it says the specs are the same as mine: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...r-battery-spec

I thought I needed a power supply and I bought this one from amazon that matches those specs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it is switchable and comes with multiple tips to fit.

I have the Sceptre brand one but can't find it for sale online. Maybe it went obsolete? That Upbright one is on Amazon for $15, but if yours died I probably wouldn't buy another one like that. The one that Baller found with lots of tips and switchable voltage looks like a good one. Having a 2.4A or 4A shouldn't matter. If they originally shipped 2.4A ones then it must draw less than 2.4A. When a charger is rated for 4A, it means that it will supply what is needed up to 4A.

andygg1986 thanks for the info! so it doesn't matter what brand/charger as long as it has the correct specs? foresight's website states to contact them for a replacement adapter, but i assume that's just to get more money.

i will get the charger Baller found. thanks Baller!

You just need one that supplies 15V and at least 2.4V and has the correct connector. Power supplies like that are a commodity item used for a huge range of products. I can think of two reasons Foresight would say that. It covers them in case you buy one that outputs the wrong voltage (something other than 15V) and fries your GC2, and they mark them up to make more money.

Sure thing! It looks like you might have to order the barrel adapter kit separately, but it’s only $7. I’m not sure about the reverse polarity adapter?

so I ordered the adapter that Baller found, but a different version where the connector is straight instead of 90 degree bend. it was $13.90.
I also did call foresight to see what they would recommend. they said they had used various chargers throughout the years. they have them available for $70. he recommended just getting it outside for much cheaper. said any charger would work with recommended output of 15V and 3.3 amps, but 2.4 amps is also fine. connector size is 5.5 mm x 2.1 mm.

so i received my new charger today. When i plugged it into the gc2 and checked battery, it was reading at 8.58V. I never have seen it that high before... is that unusual or any sort of issue?

That sounds normal to me. When you unplug the charger the voltage will drop to around 7.5V. It is higher than that when it is actively charging. The supply puts out 15V and the GC2 regulates it down to proper charging levels.

Point280. Timely thread. My power cord stopped working. I purchased the Powerseed AC adapeter. In comparing the two. Foresight: Input 100-120V 50/60Hz 0.8A, Output 12V 2.67A
Powerseed: Input 100-240V 50/60 Hz 1.0A Output 12V 3A. Would the difference in input Amp 0.8 versus 1.0 and the output Amp 2.67A versus 3 A

Andygg1986. You mentioned you need power cord with 15V and 2.4A. On the back of Foresight's it has 12V and 2.67A. On the Powerseed one I purchased I can select voltage. So which one to use? I assumed it would be the 12V 3A to mimic Foresights.

Both of mine from foresight have been 15V and 2.4A. One is made by powerstream and one by Sceptre. The powerstream came with my GC2 that I bought new and the Sceptre came with my first one that I bought used.

My charger blew up with a loud pop just before the Masters.......grrrr
It was still under warranty but I knew that Foresight Sports would not get me a replacement in time for the weekend so I bought this as a stopgap to get me up and running....

              Works great......

No, I have it as a reserve in case the Foresight replacement one goes down again. My GC2 is still under warranty so best to stick with the OE for now in case any issues.

I found the identical battery that came with my GC2. The manufacturer of the battery is ChallengerCableSales. Unable to purchase through them but can purchase the ChallengerCableSales battery online through Ascendtech for $7.30, including shipping. Foresight price is $70 plus $21
for standard shipping. I am surprised Foresight would inflate price so much - $70.00 versus $7.00.
