  • Help! Panic!!! ... super wonky/low numbers

So I finally got my sim room up and running enough that I can play. I'm super depressed right now (not really, but I'm not super stoked) because the shots coming off the GC2 are nowhere near my real life numbers. I had read about people experiencing maybe 10% shorter distances etc, so I was prepared for that, but I'm seeing numbers so off that I couldn't use the thing. I'm 50yo & play to a 10 handicap, and while I'm not Bubba f'ing Watson, I typically get the ball out there 240-260. GC2 is telling me 86 yards. 95. 112. WTF?!? The only club I tried that came even close to properly displaying was my sand wedge (56). RL 100yds & I was getting 90/92 on the launch monitor.

Anyway, later today I'm going to flash the firmware on the thing and hope that does the trick. If anyone has any experiences that are similar, insights, or suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. After months of planning and building and hemorrhaging $$, that was a mega-underwhelming start to the sim gaming world.

Flash is the first thing that comes to mind. Is it new? Do you have a spare to test with?

My GC2 is second hand, but still came with 2 flashes. The first flash in it was DOA, and I put in the spare and it began registering shots no problem. The guy I bought from is a stand up guy and he said the spare was new... no reason to doubt. Having said that, I bought a megaflash from a guy on this forum, so I might try that out as well just to compare.

    Couple tips:

    1) gc2 all the way open
    2) gc2 slightly above hitting surface maybe half an inch.
    3) if you have a spare flash, worth trying. This is my gut feeling. With a gc2 really wonky readings (usually driven by crazy spin numbers) are usually the flash starting to fail.

Its normal to lose some distance. I lost about a club when moving from outside on my patio to inside my garage ( I have 10.5’ ceilings too). Lost 20-30 yards on driver. Took about a week or two to get it back. However the extremes you are seeing is not normal. I wouldn’t mess with firmware yet. Heck I would even just take it to the range and see what happens outdoors first.

Stingreye 1- check. 2 - check. 3.. I will have to do this... As I mentioned in a comment above, I'm using what I thought was a new flash, but perhaps it's not... I'll be checking out my mega flash just to compare.

    Good points, some more ideas:

    - If it is in a case take it out and test.

    - Are launch angles correct? If it's used maybe previous owner messed it up trying to calibrate.

    - do a full reboot by holding the power button down through the power-down countdown sequence.

I'd definitely try a different flash. And make sure it is fully open!

FaultyClubs Now that you mention it, the launch angles I was seeing did seem super low. I was all focused on spin #s and didn't think about that too much, but now...

I'm sadly tied up for a couple of days, but as soon as I can, I'm going to do the full reboot (thanks for that suggestion!), pop in the new flash, and test it out. Then, depending on results, and possibly anyway, it will be off to the range to compare.

Thanks for the input & ideas everyone! I won't drown myself in a bottle just yet. Actually, maybe I will, but I won't smash the gc2 just yet hehe

gnomike have you experimented with ball position. I know I use a ST, but I use Calloway balls due to the logo being so big. My ST loves it and seems to pick up spin better. Not sure if this a case in the GC2 world.

I know my son's fitter had one and all of his balls were sharpie all to hell.

I bet the impact screen just loooooved the sharpied balls lol!! Thanks for the tip btw, but I'm pretty sure that's more ST than GC2. I'm sure someone will chime in if it's not.

Update after taking the gc2 for a very quick range session. triplebogeysrbetter Stingreye FaultyClubs mmlincon

Actually, not a true range, just a 'batting" cage setup at a local par3 course. At least it allowed me to set up the gc2 and swing freely. I only had time for about 20 swings, but that was enough to get some good feedback. My distances looked far more realistic and tolerable. I was averaging 215-230 carry for driver, which is about 30-40 yards short compared to my RL results... and that is consistent with what people say to expect. Those are also numbers I can live with for Sim play.

Now I need to figure out if my gc2 used to be physically positioned poorly in my sim, or if I was just doing the "indoor" swing phenomenon...

I don't think you should be experiencing any loss of distance. My numbers are spot on and I think most others would say theirs are also with a GC2. The only issue I have with mine is I get WAYYYY more left spin off the Tee than i do IRL. My drives have been dead straight all year outdoors but Inside I get draw bias non stop. Now I guess I could still be changing my swing even after 2 years of playing indoors becuse I don't get any draw bias with my irons at all and those numbers are also dead on.

I know I use a ST but my distances have slowly creeped up. At first I was very scared of hitting something. Now if I hit something I know if I’m to shallow or steep.
      Working...
