What refresh rate are you using for FSX on 4K TV/projector?

Just curious if anyone is using a 4K TV/projector for FSX and if so what refresh rate do you have set for your graphic card resolution settings?

Im waiting on a custom retractable projector screen from Par2Pro and in the meantime I’ve been hitting into a net and using a 55” 4K TV for FSX.

I have a pretty high-end custom gaming computer with overclocked processor and graphics card. It has a GeoForce GTX 1070 Ti NVIDIA graphics card with 8GB dedicated video memory and 64-bit Intel i5 8600K 3.6GHz CPU with 16GB RAM.

In the NVIDIA control panel I have the resolution set to 4K 3840 X 2160 (native) and I tried FSX on all 3 graphics/performance settings, however whenever I set the NVIDIA refresh rate to anything higher than 24Hz, FSX runs in super slow motion and is completely unplayable. If I hit a ball at the range, it takes about 2-3 minutes for the ball to fly downrange and come to rest on the ground.

Whenever I have the refresh rate set to 24Hz FSX works perfectly.

I just feel like a system this powerful should be able to run FSX at a higher 4K refresh rate.

Has anyone had success running FSX at a higher 4K refresh rate and if so what refresh rate do you have set and what are the specs for your computer?

Did you have to change any other settings to get FSX to run at a refresh rate higher than 24Hz?

You are trying to push a lot of pixels to a TV to supposedly get super-high resolution, but aside from the technical obstacles, I'm not sure that you are going to gain any tangible benefit.

How much "better" does FSX look at 4K vs. 1080p, especially on a 55 inch TV? I'd suggest, that there's not much difference.

Not sure that you can do better at getting pixels to a 4K TV than you have already achieved with your current set-up.

I agree. I already owned the 4K TV and was using it inside my house. I recently bought a GC2/HMT, FSX, 16:10 projector, and an impact screen, but the screen won’t arrive for another few weeks, so in the meantime I’ve been hitting into a net and playing FSX on the 4K TV that I already owned.

Just figured since I already had the 4K TV, I might as well take advantage of the higher 4K resolution and my computer processor and graphics card should be able to handle it but so far 4k resolution has only worked at 24Hz refresh rate.

As far as I know I'm running at 60Hz. Could it be the TV? Those specs should run it fine. My Project might be 30Hz but I'm not home so I can't check.

Could it be the i5 processor ?

An overclocked i5 8600k 3.6GHz CPU combined with an overclocked GTX 1070 ti NVIDIA graphic card should have plenty of horsepower to run 4K resolution at a refresh rate higher than 24Hz.

I should at least be able to run it at a 48 or 60Hz refresh rate but when I do FSX runs in super slow motion such that’s its unplayable.

I probably need need to email Foresight support to see if they have any suggestions.

Are you using a reasonable quality hdmi cable? Not all support UHD at higher Hz

Have you turned vsync on? If not go to settings and turn on vsync this will sync your video card refresh rate to your monitor so there the same.
