  • CG2 Software questions for practice and giving lessons

Hi all. What a great message board. I have learned so much reading through threads and getting great information from others questions. It’s truly a great resource.

I had had thought about the flightscope tour xi because I will be useing it outdoors at times but my indoor space is limited and I did not want to use the short mode with the metal stickers so I gravitated to the cg2 HMT. Because of other costs on the build I am going to purchase the HMT at a later date and just get the cg2 I think.

I teach beginner juniors so looking at the data the cg2 gives you I think it would be sufficient to start and then get the club face data later because of initial cost.

For software I have not heard great things about the FSX software. I am not doing club fittings. I had thought about combining the Protee software with the e6. I currently use the e6 at a local indoor place to give lessons and like the driving range options and short par 3 courses. I envisioned useing the e6 range for lessons and the Protee for play. Any recommendations or opinions? Have a great one!

Similar setup here, also coaching juniors.
I started with FR1, which was great for range and playing some courses, ball data perfect and uses HMT. With juniors, if they don’t know about the greatest latest software, then FR1 will suffice.
i have tried e6, didn’t like it and you will not get club data from your HMT, when you get it.

I know have FSX2018 and TGC waiting on TGC2019.
For me FSX2018 is brilliant for coaching, with cameras , every shot in the cloud, skills tests, custom building of performance tests (can do weekly, monthly performance analysis), new fairground mode for the small juniors doing chipping pitching and putting in a fairground scenario.

Courses are expensive, software is expensive and bug fixing is slow, but gives you great ball and club data and player account data for viewing online sessions.

TGC2019- looks graphically superior and has course builder, ability to build you local courses, it doesn’t have club data, more fun for social and tournament play.

    Good luck

vrpunk. Thank you for your reply. Have you seen the Protee play software? If you use the e6 software does it show any club path information based on spin like the simulators I have been useing?

Yes I have used Protee play in Beta, very good, Juniors will love it as it has a feel of a console games which they will relate to and a good price.
All spin data is related to the ball. I cannot remember what e6 showed, but I know with only using the GC2+HMT you can only get ball data, for club data it needs a different set of hardware.

My ideal setup for what you are doing would be GC2+HMT, FSX2018+free fairgrounds, TGC2019, Protee Play.......this will cover everything you are trying to accomplish.
Take a look at my other posts with images for my setup. I don't use a HMT with Juniors until they are advanced, then they will go into a different studio which has Trackman4.

        Good Luck

Thank you! Without the HMT model can you still use the video technology in the FSX software? I feel for right now that would be great for my juniors. The HMT is just not in the budget this year. Would it be sufficient (FSX + gc2 no HMT). Is there anywhere to see screen data from what the gc2 delivers without the HMT? Everything I see has the club tab selected showing the HMT data.

Yes video does not need HMT.
screen data? You mean ball data, which is what you get without HMT.
FSX , mobile app all show ball data tab and club data tab ... obviously no data in the club data screen

Thank you, was looking for a picture of the ball tab after a shot was hit just to see what it looks like. Every picture I have found has the club tab selected. I know the info I would be getting was just curious on how it was displayed in the software.

Here are a few 1/2-3/4 8i shots from FSX Mobile. Honest, the app is a headache to use if you want to track more than a few clubs. The desktop app is a bit better but their software is severely lacking compared to the competition.

If you are coaching or training I’d suggest using the PC software. I’ve used Flightscope apps and Skytrak extensively, Trackman PS sparingly, FSX is the bottom of the barrel imo.
