Jump to GC2?

I'm thinking of making the jump from my Protee sensor system GC2 after Christmas. For those who have the GC2, a few questions I'm hoping you can answer:

1. As I have Protee and thus will already have Protee 2.0 software as well as TGC, will I need to purchase the GC2 performance software (i.e. just buy the base GC2 unit)?

2. My biggest concern with buying the GC2 is the ability for accommodating both right and left handed golfers. How onerous is it to move the unit back and forth and how much experience do you guys have with this?

3. Should I jump or should I stay?

3. Zmax has been throwing little hints around about the possibility of something better in the future. I can say though that I love my GC2 and you would love yours too!

I jumped ship yesterday. Must say after playing with it for one day. Love it. No need to purchase any software from Foresight.

Your ProTee 2.0 license can be used with the GC2. If you sell your ProTee, the new owner will need to purchase a license for ProTee 2.0.

It's crazy accurate and works great with protee. As for 2, if using battery, you can switch it around easily or use a positiontrack or similar if you have the width. Protee works great for left and right players. It was a big thing for me but I only have one close friend that LH. Left and right handed is sucks on the GC2. Bottom line.

If you swap it back and forth between left and right handers mid round you better have a good way to align it quickly or putts and shots will be offline.

Thanks for the feedback fellas. I'm definitely concerned with this left-right thing as almost every live game I have has at least one lefty in it. Usually we have two lefties. I guess I'll have to give this some serious thought.

I been pondering the thought myself. But after the last release the thought is dwindling. But just so I am clear, what is required to get the GC2 aligned? And how close is the tolerance from good to bad?

I use a tape line i put on the floor to align my gc2 each time i play. You also need to calibrate it with software, but that can be done just the once. It's not too picky, but I always take a practice putt to make sure its straight when I play. If you switch it back and forth you will need to skip the practice putt and hope its setup right, unless you have a more scientific way of aligning it.

You can make a little ridge on your floor, or a slot for it to go in so its always straight. The only real concern is making putts, it needs to be straight for that.

I was just away to say this...
If you buy the Foresight "Protective Shield" it has 2 clips to allow you to fit an alignment rod - so that you can ensure the device is straight.

As my setup needs to be removable, I intend marking the floor with some tape so that I always get my hitting mat and GC2 in the same alignment with my screen. I may move the GC2 about to make sure I don't wear out the same patch on the mat though!

Well order is placed. Do you guys recommend the plastic shield or the metal shield?

The plastic one seems to be easier to read and also has those alignment rod clips. The alignment rod is a huge help, and I don't remember the metal shield having that feature.
