I downloaded it and maybe a slight graphics improvement but looks like they are still using DirectX 9 which in today's day and age is ridiculous. The greenhouse thing is to stupid for words!

What worries me is the E6 integration, they state they use Directx 11, i cant see how Foresight take advantage of that if it runs off the FSX 2020 engine? Could be wrong but the issue with graphics in FSX is the lack of ability to take use of multiple cores in GPU's because they use the older DirectX version as I understand it.

Do you happen to know if TGC 2019 takes advantage of the graphics capabilities that you're referring to? This might be the last straw for me to make the jump to TGC 2019.

Just curious - Is the E6 integration enabled with this release or is it still coming? Thx

I was looking forward to the FSX 2020 Performance App which from the descriptions given by the Foresight guys at the PGA Show earlier this year about the capabilities of the new app would have elevated the product to where it should have been from the start. It does not look like that app has been released with this update but I'm hoping they are still on target and going to release the 2020 Performance App some time soon. Larger problems everywhere in the world at the moment , just happy to be able to hit some balls and divert a little bit from the harsh reality of life at the moment.

Better location to get the updates. Course need to be updated to take advantage of new graphics. Great deal to upgrade for FR1/FSX users. Only $500 until April 30. Now is your chance.

Are courses compatible with the FSX 2018 also compatible with 2020?

I can confidently say that all courses are compatible with FSX 2018... the question I am trying to figure out right now is are all courses going to be upgraded to utilize improved graphics in FSX 2020. These courses are 3.* version courses. See post # 21 above. Only seeing 6 courses available with the 3.* version.

Ok. So it is not a noticeable difference? After installing: Is FSX2018 still running standalone or is FSX2020 overwriting the 2018 installation?

This is a software upgrade. Just run the installer and you'll get upgraded. The updated courses will be released as they are completed/uploaded. Congressional just got added. We'll likely see courses popping up over the next few weeks.

So far not that impressed to be honest. Would have liked to see some more variation in skill tests. Or something like in witch part of your game strokes can be gained.( like the track man features) have not yet played to updated courses. But it seems to be a bit better in grafics. Curious what the premium courses will do with the updates.

I'm on FSX (2015 version), would paying the $500 to move to 2020 be worth it? I never play the 11 courses I have now because TGC looks so much better. I pretty much only use FSX for the range at this point, are the graphics a big leap from the original version of FSX?

NO!!!! Only benefit of upgrading would be if you need it to run E6.........

At this point I would say not worth it. As far as I can see they did NOT upgrade the graphics of The Range (or if they did I can't tell).
In fact I am strongly considering making the jump to TGC 2019 if I don't see substantial improvement with the updated FSX courses that are being released.

Thanks shellman19, I'll just stick with what I have for now I guess. The $500 upgrade is good through end of month, so I'll see what others think once it is rolled out widely.

mmlincon and everyone else for that matter... I called Foresight about the faulty link for Congressional. It now fixed and can be DL'd.

Also, has anyone been able to play the new 3.0.0 version of Linfield? It installs into FSX 2020 fine but when FSX 2020 tries to load it up to play it, it crashed FSX 2020.

No one who has their own golf simulator should be complaining about practically anything in the entire world at this point. We are the lucky few. Just sayin'...

I downloaded FSX 2020 today, have not yet played. On the PC screen it is not obviously superior to 2018. Boo hoo hoo. It was free. I don't think Foresight would have released it if there were not material improvements. It contains some new features. I doubt I'll be hitting at greenhouses much. But, what did it cost again?

Has anyone looked at the new Oregon course they have up for $60? That is a fairly standard price for courses when they go on sale, but if this one is particularly tricked up for 2020 I would probably go for it.
