  • GCQuad with TGC up and running

I listed the steps I took to get this thing going. I just got done playing a round at a famous course down South where a big tourney was supposed to be held this weekend.

Step 1: Buy this: https://golfsimulatorstore.com/colle...13246583636067 - this part is a pain because you need to install protee and TGC and wait for all your licenses to come via email.

Step 2: Configure protee as instructed in other posts. Basically - you need to just change 1 setting to configure it to external data

Step 3: Install GQSX.com - pm me if you need this

Step 4: Connect the Quad to the computer via wifi

Step 5: Connect to internet either via ethernet cable or another wifi card and bridge connections - this allows to connect to internet and qcquad at the same time

Step 6: Launch Protee then GQSX (click on connect) then start TGC

It should now work. No needing all that other stuff like you do for the GC2.

Don’t check the box that says Club on GSXQ.

It's unchecked and still has the delay.

Strange. Given I don't know of anyone else with the problem I'd say you need to look at maybe your wifi dongle. Is the delay on every shot?

First 6 pics are my 7 iron next 6 pics are my driver. I am in Utah so I’m not sure if the quad automatically has me at higher elevation. Maybe that’s the difference. Anyways let me know if you guys have any idea. Thanks

7iron is carrying 190 on quad 178 on tgc
Driver 263 on quad 252 Tgc and second try 271 quad and 253 Tgc

Same with 7. Not that long. Check the altitude settings.

ON THE QUAD, there is an elevation setting unless they've changed that. ALSO in FSX, there is an elevation setting. You can tell FSX to use:
      1) The Quad's settings
      2) Your custom input settings
      3) Real live settings for the location you are playing (course location)

Sorry, I see you're in TGC so never mind the FSX part. Your ball speed is really good so those numbers are possible but check the quad settings.

It's the "Air Pressure" Settings. Set the elevation or Auto.

What course were you playing on TGC? I think they plug the raw numbers into their own algorithms that factor elevation and weather details.
    Lay-ups are for basketball!

I was on the mthunt dead flat range. Do you check settings for elevation on the actual launch monitor itself? Those numbers are accurate for where I am in Utah but it does seem high for sea level. Also thanks for the help you guys this is super helpful.

Can you turn off the elevation effects on the quad?

The chips are much worse. It also delays with FSX. And I had it connected via USB for that. Maybe it's just my computer. It's not that big of a deal. I was just surprised to hear that everyone else is getting instant feedback.

If it also does that with FSX there is your answer.

            What are you running?

Typically, windows running on SSD, an i5 CPU and a 1050Ti or 1060 GPU will be pretty quick.

I see discrepancy too but usually TGC has higher carry.

            Hi All
New to the forum just put my order in GC Quad yesterday really looking forward to it arriving but while I am waiting for it, I thought I would try and get all the stuff for TGC.

On the link posted earlier in the thread is the version I want the Protee simulator version?

and if I understand correctly do I need to get a Wifi Card for my desktop to connect it to the GCquad ?

              TGC...

Yes, you want TGC2019 simulator version, Pro Tee interface. Should cost EUR850. There is a more expensive bundle that includes old TGC plus TGC2019, avoid that one. When you buy TGC you will get sent an email with an activation code and links to download TGC2019 (7GB file, takes a while) along with the ProTee interface. Download and install the software and in parallel follow the process to request and receive license keys for both. All very easy and quick, the OP in this thread explains it well.

              WIFI...

For best reliability, you need a direct wifi connection to the GCQ. It has Bluetooth in built, but it’s not stable (drops out all the time on FSX Mobile).

So for TGC (and FSX if you have it) you wifi to Quad and use a second wifi card or adapter to the internet, or use ethernet hard wire connection. I do
the latter, works perfect, but you can also play the standard TGC courses offline.

You’ve probably read it, but I will add that you also need the clever little GSQX application to pickup the GCQ data (via wifi) and parse that to the ProTee interface for TGC2019 use.

Is there a particular WiFi card that is preferred above others?

Just wanna say thanks again for GSXQ it is really fantastic! I was wondering, as the current Quad firmware is 2.2.7.9 -- could they shut out how this works in future firmware update? As in should we be waiting to do any and all upgrades moving forward?

Similar concern here. Also, how do I check the firmware version and how is it updated? If I avoid connecting for GCQUAD to wifi completely, does it mean it never gets updated then?

You have to connect your Quad to ethernet internet every 45 days to reactivate the license, but the firmware is always updated manually (like everything Foresight).

I’m using a firmware version from Mar/Apr 2019 without issue, so you can always roll back the firmware to a previous version (as long as you keep the file somewhere) should FS try and encrypt data further or block GSQX somehow.

I don’t think they ever interfered with GSX for GC2, can’t see why they’d be too bothered by GSQX. We’ve all bought FSX anyway!

As the quad loads up you can see it in the bottom right corner. You update it manually via foresight:

All Foresight Sports software resources - including recent downloads, user guides/video and other support-related resources.

It's hard to say. I think you have to buy FSX when you buy the quad don't you? I'm not sure why they would care if you do but they might. It's the risk. You can always sell TGC.

The GC2 started working with ProTee 6 years ago and everyone went nuts said an encrypted firmware would be out in a few months. Hasn't yet.

Nah you don’t need to buy FSX, you can just use the fitting app, but many seem to buy it.

That could change now, but I think what’s also likely is the price of FSX and the cost of courses will have to come down.

And besides...if FS somehow got the motivation to block it and we can’t roll back firmware for some reason, well, we can always buy a different LM if using TGC is that important.

Dude, all the same conversations from 6 years ago. FR1 would have to come down. They'll block it with firmware's. All of us would be arrested. You can search for it. It's hear and ottawa golf. LOL. FYI, prices aren't coming down.

mthunt ...haha! Yes, it’s not like FS software development are the most agile and responsive team when it comes to FSX. They’ll be too busy developing the next glasshouse game or zombie golf to worry about fixing FSX bugs and changing their data packaging.

Ok. Just when I have everything up and running, the stupid connection on GQSX is staying yellow. It says connected but is yellow, not green. And no, it does not pick up shots on TGC. My wifi says connected to my GCQuad. Any input for the reason for this?

So far for me, the yellow goes away as soon as I select connect again, but only when the wifi to GCQ is stable. I’ve had it drop out while playing FSX on a couple of occasions, not often.
