  • GCQuad with TGC up and running

I listed the steps I took to get this thing going. I just got done playing a round at a famous course down South where a big tourney was supposed to be held this weekend.

Step 1: Buy this: https://golfsimulatorstore.com/colle...13246583636067 - this part is a pain because you need to install protee and TGC and wait for all your licenses to come via email.

Step 2: Configure protee as instructed in other posts. Basically - you need to just change 1 setting to configure it to external data

Step 3: Install GQSX.com - pm me if you need this

Step 4: Connect the Quad to the computer via wifi

Step 5: Connect to internet either via ethernet cable or another wifi card and bridge connections - this allows to connect to internet and qcquad at the same time

Step 6: Launch Protee then GQSX (click on connect) then start TGC

It should now work. No needing all that other stuff like you do for the GC2.

I couldn't find the answer in this thread or forum. But for the GC Quad do you have to change any settings in the GQSX.exe (if so where do you access it)? Similar to GSX.exe changing the settings to "0"

Nope, you just click connect (OPs instructions are good)

There's no settings in GQSX. It's locked to 0 on everything.

New user of GCQ and TGC2019. A few different issues and questions:

      1. While playing on TGC, this has happened twice. All of a sudden it does not show that Protee is picking up the shots and sending the info to TGC. I can see on the Quad LCD screen the shot info, so I know it registered there. When I check GQSX it still shows all green and connected. I have to close GQSX and Protee and restart them (but can keep TGC open) and it will then start working again. Has this happened to others?

      2. For Protee settings. I am a left handed player, I should check off Left Handed on the interface correct? My player in TGC is listed as lefthanded and it shows the "club info" after the shot. It almost always shows the path as out-to-in a few degrees but on the Quad it always shows my typical in-to-out path of 4-6 degrees. Why the drastic difference? The ball data and flight seems to be similar between the two so I am not too worried about the flight just odd to see quite different club data.

#1 has started to happen to me all of a sudden. When I check GQSX, all looks green until I disconnect. Once I try to reconnect, GCQuad is orange. I'll try again tomorrow but this was quite frustrating tonight.

For 1 something on the PC is causing that. Not sure what. Sometimes security settings cause that with bluetooth.

For 2 Shot Data is contrived and not of real use. If your quad shows club data don't bother with the post shot screen. As far as the left handed setting, the game doesn't need it. It reads the ball and puts it on the screen. Feel free to mess with it as it may help show better club data.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but does anyone have a GCQ withOUT FSX? Is there a reason one would want or need both FSX and TGC?

You can’t buy a quad from foresight without FSX. If you bought a used quad you could get one without. However, if you have the club data add on or putting analysis, you will want FSX. It does a great job breaking down the key points in very clear pictures.

Other than having to pay for the GCQuad, can't imagine being disappointed by it....however it does seems to me that it is a bit much to go through so that a 16k to 20K launch monitor can run third party software.

Ok good to know. Can GCQ also connect to E6 and/or CG3D?

@richerrod I believe so. I think mthunt has talked about them being connected. Foresight is officially connecting their hardware with the E6 software.

If you are connected to TGC via ProTee interface you select ProTee in E6 and can connect that way. I don’t know about the other one.

        Hi,

Great that the GC Quad seems to be working well with TGC 2019!

I'd decided to take the punt and upgrade to Quad from GC2 (which I've had happily working with TGC 2019 via Pro Tee), as it seems the logical step up. However, I'm struggling to get this going!

Every chance this is user error, but happily got the GC2 working via GSX - however, I've downloaded the GSQX, followed the instructions and despite the '3 green lights' in GSQX I can't seem to get anything reflected in TGC 2019 (e.g. doesn't respond at all, despite Quad picking up a swing).

I'm using the Quad straight out of the box - are there any updates to either Pro Tee Interface (think I'm on 3.15) or any settings changes on the Quad (the data it spits out). On the Interface it tells me it's connected to TGC but I don't see any data there from Quad (which I do with the GC2). Conscious the GC2 connects via a specific port, and wonder if I need to change anything on that first?

Sorry for the meandering question - just not sure what I'm missing!

        Thanks!

For anyone else that is experiencing the same problem as #1, I've isolated the problem to the WiFi connection (for now) against the GCQuad. It was highly stable and never disconnected usually when playing FSX2020. I'm noticing it's disconnecting quite frequently all of a sudden. I thought it was just TGC2019 but when I went back to FSX2020 for driving range or course play, the same disconnection issue popped up. The GCQuad unit though was picking up all of the shots. I also noticed FSX2020 would connect/disconnect GCQuad and wouldn't reconnect.

I updated the firmware on GCQuad to the latest version and updated the WiFi drivers. It seemed to be unstable again until I did a MS Windows update. It was very late last night (close to 2am) since it was really bothering me that GCQuad was not working at all with FSX or TGC. After my reboot, it seems I'm back to a stable WiFi connection.

I'm going to test this out again tonight to see if the stable WiFi connection holds.

If your browser blocks Popups it might not appear - try an alternative browser, but the Google Drive link should pop up, and you can download it.

                  Same problem happened to me.

                  1. Launched Protee

                  7. Realized Protee is NOT the default app I want in the Protee interface.

I made the same misstep at one point but it will be overlooked. When you open Protee, the default sim app is not setup for TGC. Go under settings in Protee and select "The Golf Club" (don't worry if it doesn't say 2019). THEN, select the option for "External Data" (it looks like a toggle switch). You should NOT see an option for COMM ports when you use TGC and use "external data" as your option.

Which firmware version on GCQuad are you using?

Hi, thanks for the reply - appreciate it!

Right, going to get stuck into it now, but that point 7 shouldn't be an issue as it is set to The Golf Club already as I was already using it for the GC2 (need to have the same thing set for that). However, I might reset it all back to Pro Tee as it was initially and see if it picks it up.

Firmware is 3.0.1.1. - is that the same version you're on, and could I ask what version of the Pro Tee Interface you're on too?

                    Thanks!

                  Just as a follow-up -

Still no joy unfortunately, but seems to be a communication issue between the GC Quad and Pro Tee Interface.

I've got the GC2 and GC Quad set up next to each other for comparison, so basically...

                  1) I connect the GC Quad to Wifi on my PC. I have a wired ethernet internet connection, so all good on that score.
                  2) Startup Protee Golf Interface (v 3.16) - as per using it with my GC2, my settings are:
                  - Use game: The Golf Club
                  - Use external data: On

When I start up GQSX I get a 'green' status on Direct WIFI connection and on Protee Program
When I click on Connect in GQSX I get a 'green' status on GCQ Online

All feels like we should be good to go! However, TGC 2019 just doesn't pick anything up.

Reason I'm suspecting a communication issue is that the Pro Tee Interface is not picking up any 'Last Shot Data' from the GC Quad (irrespective of whether TGC is doing anything).

If I start up my GC2 (same PC etc), then run GSX, when I hit a ball the Last Shot Data updates with info from the GC2 - so would then be reflected in TGC 2019.

I'm struggling to work out why GQSX isn't talking to ProTee Golf Interface, given I get a green status on all 3 elements.

Could I please ask anyone who has this up and running on GC Quad, could you let me know if ProTee Golf Interface updates the Last Shot Data from your Quad? I'm guessing it does, and that's the culprit here. A bit stuck now!

                  Thanks.

I'm using v3.17b for the Protee interface. I had v2.2.1 at one point which still exhibited the same problem. I then upgraded to the latest GCQ firmware (same version as you...3.0.1.1)

The one issue I had is that GCQuad would continue disconnecting from WiFi. It was solid for weeks and then just started happening. I updated WiFi drivers, updated windows.

I then disabled windows firewall to test whether the ports are being blocked.

I also added protee and "golf" (odd it wasn't GSQX.exe or TGC) to be able to see both private and public networks.

BUT...then I found that I couldn't get FSX2020 to even work anymore! GCQ just wouldn't show up in the Devices list at all. It would pop-up for a split second then disappear. I narrowed this down to the WiFi dropping the connection to the GCQ. I verified this by pinging the GCQuad's gateway (192.168.100.76). You may have a different gateway. IPCONFIG in command line will tell you what the network gateway was.

Run the cmd "ping -t 192.168.100.76". This will continuously ping GCQ and it helped me validate that I was indeed losing my connection.

The last 3 nights, I've been able to get it working eventually but it's super late at night because I've been up trying to troubleshoot in a 90+ degree oven (garage).

Try a few of the things I've mentioned above. I THINK I might have figured out the steps to get GCQ to work with TGC but I had to alter the steps. Unfortunately, I only got one pass at this 'test' and can't say it's a reproducible set of instructions.

BUT...here's what I would do. Run steps 1 through 7 again. If you get green lights on GCQX, GCQ connects, Protee connects and you still can't get TGC2019 to work. Close out TGC2019 (and only TGC2019). Then fire up FSX2020 and go to driving range mode to see if you get shots picked up. There's a chance you won't even get FSX working again.

ALL THE WHILE, the GCQuad is recording every single shot on its hardware screen so I know the shots are being registered.
