  • FSX 2020 PC Specs

Hi, is anybody running FSX 2020 on a PC with an AMD Ryzen processor? Foresight says AMD is not recommended. I'm just wondering if there are any real issues. Uneekor flat out says it's not compatible which I don't understand at all. I'm planning a new PC build and for the money you can't get any Intel processor that comes close to the Ryzen 5 3600. Here are the recommended specs from Foresight:
    System Requirements:

    • Operating System: Windows 7 or greater (64 Bit Required) Works well with Win 8.1, & 10.
    • Processor: Min Spec: Intel i5 or i7 processors (AMD processors not recommended)
    • Memory: Min Spec: 8GB system memory
      Recommended: 16GB for best performance
    • Video Card: Min Spec: Nvidia GTX 1050 ti or greater (AMD GPUs not supported)
      Recommended: GTX 1060, 1660 or 1070, RTX 2060 Premium: RTX 2070 or 2080

Do you have to have a GTX video card? Just bought a new Lenovo X1 carbon laptop with Integrated Intel® UHD Graphic card, does anyone know if that will work with FSX? I emailed Foresight and they just sent me a screenshot back of the recommended video cards...

Yeah I don't think any integrated graphics card is going to cut it. I'm planning an RTX 2070 Super which is overkill but I want to have the option of going 4k if I ever upgrade my projector. In a few years the prices will probably come down on these things and make an upgrade feasible.

I will try initially with my existing PC.
        32gb or RAM
        2 GTX980's in SLI.
        i7 with 6 cores

You could always just run it in Full Performance mode and would prob be fine.

Yeah I gave up trying to find an answer and just ordered the components for my new PC using an Intel i5 9600K. I went with an RTX 2070 8GB so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to run any golf sim in 1080p at the highest settings, haha. I found a good combo deal on the processor and motherboard so it only ended up costing me a little more than a Ryzen 5 3600 and should have pretty comparable performance.

Yeah GTX980 has 4gb of RAM. I have 2 cards in SLI but not sure if FSX2020 will take advantage of that efficiently.

        Resurrecting this thread...

I need a short throw projector and, for financial reasons, I'm only looking at 1080 for resolution. Assuming I had something like the Optoma GT1080HDR, what graphics card would I need to run FSX? Is 1060 fine? Or should I go up to a 2060+?

I’m running it with a 6th gen i7 at 4ghz, and a gtx980ti with no problems. Pc is about 4-5 years old but the gtx980ti is still better than a lot of the newer cards..

I use your topic as it is question about graphics for FSX 2020 + GcHawk

          Intel I5-10400
Ram: 8GB (does it really need up to 16GB?)
          SSD: 500GB

Graphics Card is what I am unsure about, what is easily avaible is:

XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX ed. 8GB GDDR5
ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER DUAL EVO OC 6GB GDDR6
Gainward GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER Pegasus 6GB GDDR6

(ASUS GeForce RTX 2060 DUAL EVO)
          (Gainward GeForce RTX 2060 Ghost)
(Theese 120$ more, is it really needed for 1080 projector?)

1660SUPER cards most avaible as I can buy a build that have been returned in the 14 days policy here.

At least 2 screens projector + 22" touch screen . I see those cards have only one HDMI but extra Displayport, theese cards can run 2 screens? Displayport2HDMI adapter?
