    GQuad camera noise

Can anyone verify if the GCQuad is silent, or can you hear the camera/IR clicking when close to the unit?

Seems silent and I don’t know what moving parts there would be, but given the noise created from striking a golf ball I really couldn’t tell.

If it's just sitting there, does it make any noise like the cameras constantly focusing or clicking? I just received one and curious if I need to get it swapped. I turned it on just to check out the settings and such, and it's softly clicking/pulsing. Wondering if that's normal or not.

Just turned it on and put my ear up to it...makes the faintest sounds (fuzzy flickering sounds). Couldn’t hear it a ft away

I was playing with my laptop yesterday with the GCQ right next to me with it on and it was making similar faint noises. Not sure if that is related to it searching for a ball, as there was none in range. Mine is also new as of last Friday and don't have a ton of experience with it yet.

I don’t have a quad but with a GC2 you can sometimes hear a slight buzz from the LEDs that search for the ball in the hitting zone. If there is nothing it happens about once per second. Once the ball is in the zone it will change to a constant buzz. It’s very faint but sounds like it might be what you all are hearing.

It’s not that kind of camera... you’re thinking of like a DSLR with a big shutter... these are machine vision camera with a rolling shutter and they make no noise—a video camera. Do you have an iPhone or other phone with a camera? Does it click when you take a picture?

I've never noticed mine making any sound whatsoever, but haven't put my ear right up to it. Certainly it is quieter than the PC (working pretty hard on FSX 2020), not to mention the projector.

Here is what I hear. I can hear it clicking and such looking for a ball while I'm standing where I would to hit one. I just got the unit, so don't want to be paranoid, but I also want to make sure it's all good after spending so much money :P

Sounds like electricity flashing. I never got anything like that out of my unit. Weird.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. I may try to see if they will swap it out. It seems to work fine, but when you are paying this much money, I'd rather it work flawlessly day one

One thing I’ve accepted in the world of launch monitors - none of them work flawlessly. This could be a hardware issue if the machine is noisy, but they all have bugs and nuances.

Your phone seems pretty close to the unit, can you hear that sound when you’re standing away from it?

Yours might be louder and it may be worth replacing if you can hear it while addressing your shot.

But it might also be that you’ve picked up a quirk that none of us have ever noticed before.

Yeah I can hear it at address. I just took that close to get the sound as loud as possible. I've been hitting outside since it's nice and so it's exactly quiet like indoors and I can hear it clicking looking for the ball and such.

My quad makes similar noises while searching for a ball, although much lower volume. I can only hear if I get quite close. Once a ball is in range the sound turns into a very low hum.

I checked, and my GCQ makes no discernable sound even when I get down right next to it and move a ball around in the hitting zone. If yours is really audible I would guess there is a problem with it.

hunterp12 any update you can provide? My unit is doing the same. Thanks.

I haven't noticed any sounds coming from my unit. Maybe try taking the battery out and reseating it?
