  • Brand new quad- fully licensed FSX2020 keeps checking for the unit

Hi everyone. Is it common for FSX2020 to pop a window up looking for the GC Quad? Mine does that from time to time and it always seems to happen right when I hit a great shot and then, not registering the hit. I noticed that the unit states that I seem to be in trial mode still. Since this is fully licensed, why would it list me in a trial status for club and putting data?

Mine is in trial mode only in putting as I bought the club data. I have zero misreads and never disconnect. I am connected to the pc via usb cable at the moment

I have been using Quad for about a month now and not 1 disconnect. I generally use WiFi and my PC has an Ethernet connection. I am thinking this is a possible internet issue since you are in an Online mode vs Offline and it loses internet not verifying the license? Are you sure it is the Quad disconnection and not the internet? Just a thought. I was also just commenting on another thread, have you looked into your WiFi adapter? Does it have the latest driver? Do you have a USB Gig Speed 5ghz Wifi Adapter you can try to see if it still happens? Might be that and not the Quad?

When I bought mine I was told FS supply all Quads with club and putting data in trial mode for the first 30 days, probably to upsell those who didn’t buy either option initially.

After 30 days it just rolls the license over to whatever you have bought e.g. club data might stay on, but putting drops off.

Oh and I’m convinced FSX2020 has some wifi connection error. I’m getting more drop outs with FSX2020 than FSX2018...and I’m not getting them with TGC, so I don’t believe it’s the hardware.

My laptop has two wireless connections. One specifically for the GC Quad and the other for the OS and programs to access the Internet. I do own both the club and putting modules but both say they are in trial mode. I did notice that the GC Quad connection is DHCP and I thought I noticed that there is a default gateway configured through IPCONFIG /ALL. The internet wireless also has a default gateway configured so maybe that could contribute to the drops?

How long have you had your quad? From my experience, whether you purchase the add on's or not, it will say trial until the trial period is over. Then it will just state that you have them.

There was a discussion about this several months ago and in that case it was determined that the Quad has a static electricity safeguard that could get thrown if the area was too dry. Not sure where you live but if it you have very low humidity you may want to get a humidifier. The poster at the time said he would have this issue when it was below 35% humidity in his room... I have had that happen but it is very rare (once a month or so).

+1 on the static issue. I've had that problem and Foresight has confirmed this safety protection issue within the unit. You can use a humidifier in your room, you can spray water all around your quad before you use it, or the best solution I've had when this happens is a spray bottle of Static Guard.

Also make sure you're on the latest firmware as I think a recent update made it a bit better.

Thanks Baller for the comment. How does one use the Static Guard?

It's just a pressurized spray bottle. a little spray here and a little spray there. Don't need much. By the way, if your setup is on carpet static is even more likely (my setup is).

So I spray a little in front of the GCQ, and to whatever side I walk near. If you walk all around it, then spray once on every side. Should not need much (at least I didn't). I also tried an anti static mat and that may have helped, but not enough.
          Working...
