    FSX Cup Physics

I have had my GC Quad and FSX 2018 and now 2020 for just over a year. I am very happy with the quad. After borrowing a TM4 for one winter I would say that I enjoy the quad and trust the quad more for indoors compared to the TM4. I do miss the trackman combine. I’m even relatively satisfied with FSX software as I don’t place a premium on online play. My club has e6 on their sims so I have had experience with other software.

The one thing about FSX software that has frustrated me is the strange way the ball interacts with the cup. Is anyone else noticing this? It makes a strange clunk when it hits the back of the cup or the side. It doesn’t lip out properly and sometimes bounces the opposite way. Firm putts do not go in. Even putts that look to be the perfect speed will often hit the back of the cup and rest on the back lip. I’ve even had one putt hit the back of the cup and bounce back towards me and rest on the front lip of the cup. When does that ever happen in real life? I’ve brought it up with support a couple of times and they seemed to listen but today the support person denied ever hearing about anything like that and won’t open a ticket until we verify my version of software and courses. I’ve experienced this issue through 2018 and 2020 with all the updates. Anyone else notice these type of problems? If so please call foresight and let them know.

This is definitely a known issue, many have complained about it for years.

It’s one reason I prefer TGC, you can actually make putts.

      Thank you AdamV,

I assumed others had to be experiencing the same things.

Is TGC 2019 working consistently with your Quad?

Yep, works brilliantly. I’m still running version 2.x GCQ firmware, recent f/w updates seem to require FSX starting up first before firing up TGC and interfaces.

Very much an issue in FSX. Extremely difficult to hole puts, very unforgiving lip-out algorithm. I was hoping it would be eased on the Version 3.0 courses and maybe it has been just a little bit, but still too hard and quite frustrating.

The odd thing about this is that it seems to me that there is variation between courses. Some courses I make putts all the time and others never go in and bounce off the edge of a wooden cup.

          Hey Baller,

Which courses do you find are better for making putts?

I wish I wrote down exactly which ones, but I'm pretty sure I noticed it with the newer courses that I got either with the Zombie promo a while back right before 2020 was released (Apple Valley, Aurora, & Champaign) or with the 3 new promo pack of Illini, Shadow Valley, & Woodlands.

I'll try to pay more attention the next time I play one of those.
