FSX Looks Terrible

I’m just about to finish my Sim room and finally got my quad and projector all hooked up. Everything from computer to projector is pretty top of the line (way over recommended specs). However, the graphics are just kind of shitty. I knew this going in, but watching others on YoutTube, I didn’t expect it to be this bad. I have everything set to “Full Graphics”. Is there a setting that I’m missing or is it really just that bad. It’s almost hard to use.

E6 looks pretty good, so I don’t think it’s my hardware.

No comparison between TGC2019 graphics and FSX2020 graphics. I'll use FSX2020 for range work and equipment testing but play courses on TGC2019.

I just loaded it up for the first time prepping for my GC Hawk build and had the same reaction. It looks much better on other’s screens on youtube than it does 1st person. It looks 20 years old. I won’t let it stop my enjoyment bc the hardware is so good but I’m not sure why they don’t punt on software. Trackman’s looks so good in comparison.

They force that $3k old software onto the lm purchase. Who knows what they would charge for more up to date software.

Buy TGC 2019 or E6 if you want graphics , Fsx is way to overpriced in my opinion but for practice it’s very accurate!

No way Foresight Sports is going to provide the new software engine FOC to FSX 2020 existing owners for a graphics upgrade .

Their business model has always been hook and gouge.

Foresight VP at the 2020 PGA Show on camera stated that their new fitting app would be free for FSX2020 owners , heralding that they had listened to customer feedback and were actioning the customer desire.

I have been asking them how they are getting on with that promised fitting app and am getting frankly crap responses from that organisation.

No faith in their desire to fulfil promises or their ability to deliver either.

Check the course version? I looked at the file sizes and the newest version was 3 times bigger than the older, so I wonder if you're playing with an older version of a course with lower graphics monster_55 ?

FSX graphics are not great, but they are certainly nowhere near unplayable. Make sure you have the version 3.0 courses. I use Reshade also, which improves the contrast. I think it's pretty good. Bear in mind your projected image on an impact screen is never going to look the same as an image broadcast from a 4k monitor.

Who knows what Foresight will come up with next in terms of pricing, subscription? But they did give FSX 2020 free of charge to FSX 2018 owners. It was a material upgrade. If not free, they will need to price any new version sensibly for FSX 2020 owners or people will just use the alternatives.

With everyone wanting league and online multiplayer plus the graphics I would also believe that subscription model might be the right choice for FSX. What good is league or online if everyone does not own the same courses. I only use FSX for the range and ball/club data ATM. I use other s/w for course play. If fsx offered something that was competitive with others available then I might have a different opinion.

Can you post a pic of "terrible"? My guess is your settings are off because FSX is not "terrible".

I agree. FSX looks like the Sony Playstation from about 2003. It isn't a settings thing. It's a software thing. I can't wrap my head around paying what they charge for just a single course for graphics that look like that.
