  • fsx2020 target line adjustment help

I'm setting up fsx2020 and the target line is offset. I had to find the simulator setup tool file and drop it in the foresight experience folder because I didn't see it anywhere. Anyway I ran as admin but can't get the darn line moved over to center. It's been awhile but not sure why it's not working for me. Do I have it in the correct folder?
    Thanks!

There is another thread on page 1 of this forum addressing this exact question.

Answer: you need to play with the "Room Config Tool" found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Foresight Sports Experience Components.

You might need some trial-and-error adjusting to get it to look right.

Can someone post what this should look like when it's setup correctly? The reason I ask, I followed the config tool, entered my measurements but the target line is not centered, rather down the right side of the screen. Is this because my setup is also favoring the right side?

I just adjusted mine back to center with roomconfig. Worked like a charm! I was thinking it was the other program with fr1..

I believe the design intent is to have the ball "fly" straight ahead up and into the screen from the hitting position for the most realism. So, if you are hitting from an offset position and the ball is flying straight ahead onto the screen (albeit) offset to the same degree than you have set it up "correctly". However, per the above post, if you do not like this just redo the set up so that the system "thinks" you are hitting from the center - then the ball will fly off into the middle of the screen.

All said, I think I would prefer to have it offset and have the ball "fly" straight into the screen for me.

How can you redo this? Is there a way to reset it to the default? My aim line is now on the right side and every shot I hit feels like I'm pulling it left - doesn't seem directionally accurate.

See post #2! Just run the executable and modify your input for hitting position of whatever it is called. I can go look later but it should be pretty evident when you run the program.

Does anyone know the granularity for the offset? Is it just feet or can it be inches?

I will say that the room config tool may say inches but its not exact. Best to just trial and error move a little then go back in and see how far the line moved. Do that over and over until you get it exactly where you want it. Then every time you switch from FSX2020 to FSXPlay you have to do it all over again. they are definitely not the same.

I spent some time last night finally sorting this on my system, as I noticed FSX Play was aiming correctly but FSX 2020 was offset way left. I figured out a spot on my mat where my GC3 was showing the ball in the centre of the hitting area, on the GC3s own screen. This was about 20 inches from the edge of my mat. I measured the same 20 inches at each end of the mat, and marked a line down my mat, pointing at the screen. This line was about a foot right of the centre of the screen. I set up a lazer running exactly down that line and onto my screen, and used the alignment stick that comes with GC3 to align the units aim. Next opened FSX play and took a note of where the aim line was, which was way left. Closed FSX 2020, opened room config tool, and changed the DX number. Reopened FSX 2020 and looked to see whether the aim line was closer to my lazer line. Repeated this process until the aim line on screen exactly matched the lazer / GC3s hitting zone. Checked again in FSX play and it’s also perfectly aligned. Hope that helps. The lazer was a must.
