    Question on Software

I have run across a unit for sale. However, he doesnt know what software is loaded as he got it from someone that passed away. How would I go about to verify what software is associated to the unit?

I would get the serial number and verify (with Foresight) that it is not a unit that has been reported stolen. They could also tell you the firmware version.
Alternatively you can view the firmware version during the loading screen when the Quad is first powered up, or you can view it in settings once fully powered on.

Not to steal the thread, but if you buy a used quad how much do you pay for software? I guess what I’m asking is how much would be too much to spend on a used unit? I am thinking i would rather spend an extra $1,500 on a new unit.

It seems most of the time you will see "comes with FSX, club data, or putting data". You shouldn't be out any additional money unless you choose to register with Foresight and pay their $500 fee. Or of course if you wanted more courses for the FSX. I got my GC2/HMT used in Oct 2019 and have yet to register my equipment.

Just FYI, I think that the registration fee for a Quad is $1,000 and $500 for a GC2 (no idea why there's a price difference just for access to technical support). FSX 2020 will cost you $3,000 brand new from Foresight, not sure if any courses are included.

If you could get a screen shot of the home screen of the computer, you can tell if its FR1 or FSX just by looking at the desktop icon. If you can get them to click on the icon, you should be able to tell what version of FSX it is. If you need screen shots of the different versions, just let me know. Another way to tell is if it comes with a green or blue security dongle. I believe the green dongles are FR1 and blue are FSX. FSX may or may not need a dongle. They sell both dongle and online only versions.
