FSX Play - Bug Tracking Thread

Hi All,,

Please use this thread to track all known bugs and issues. Please try to give as much detail as possible.

First few I’ve noticed:

Paris Range

- Ball flight not reflecting LM numbers. Eg LM says 175 carry. FSX play shows ball landing circa 165, rolling out to 174. Figures on FSX play screen say 175 carry, 174 total (i.e. so ball should be spinning back, but its clearly rolling out 10 yards or so)

- Descent angles in the analysis table are totally wrong on screen. Regularly getting 0 degrees, or 358.5 degrees.


On course

- Number of short chips stopping dead on first bounce, where first bounce is short of green, on fringe or even on the green

I've noticed that also on the pre-first tee shot on the flyovers, but I think the flyover is showing the yardage from the "tips" on every hole, then when you get on the tee box it's showing you the yardage from whatever tee box you are playing. ...I think... Haven't noticed the mini-map issue, what part doesn't make sense there? It will alter the distance if you aim it left, right, short or long, correct? Just trying to help, I'll bugger off if I'm being a pest.

And yes the banner may show tips yardage but it confuses people and they end up hitting wrong club on par 3s. Sure blame the beer but I should have to remind other that the yardage is incorrect on every single hole. I know now and ignore so then what's the point? Should be able to disable the auto fly over too. Its fun for people who are playing for first time but if its a familiar course its not needed.

Yeah, that on is messed up! Agreed on the flyovers. And the banners when you are on the green if the putt is for birdie or par.

How do most connect their GC3 to FSX2020 or Play? I have righties and also lefties in my family and trying to connect via Bluetooth or WIFI is almost impossible! Also seems that after a firmware upgrade to the GC3, it has started not seeing the ball and having to power cycle the unit! ARG

Not sure why you're asking this in the Play bug tracking thread. I can't help with the answer but please use the right thread. I do know with Quad, everything except USB has issues on Play.

Sorry Baller, didn't mean to steal the thread...New to this forum but should have known better.Thanks for your info. Doesn't bode well with having to move the unit for lefties and righties using USB! I have both FSX 2020 and Play and have to tell ya that Foresight has a lot of work to do to catch up with 2020. Maybe that is why they keep throwing free courses out to you!

Totally agree it sucks. I really dislike using USB to connect. I keep trying to figure the Wifi connection out with no luck, even with the new Quad firmware...I managed to connect once in Play via Wifi and then it stopped working and never got it back. No idea.

Anyone else noticing that there is no sound from the ball landing in the rough off of tee shots?... i happen to have a lot of practice in this space

Yeah, not many or any sounds in Play. I dislike many of the sounds of 2020 though, like "it went left" or "get down honey" or "Just a bit outside"...I delete the sound files I don't like.

I find enjoyment in the FSX 2020 comments. When they say nice drive but really it was a crap strike that went nowhere but found the fairway its just like being in league when people have no idea how bad of a shot you really hit. Lol

Have you guys gone onto the putting green in the driving range? There’s not cup in mine. It’s like the grass is being bent in like an image of a black hole

Good to see some updates/improvements.

Great that user selected data tiles has been looked at. HOWEVER, I’m finding ‘club path’ won’t save and ‘closure rate’ keeps reappearing when de-selected. Other parameters I like to see seem to stay between sessions.

Is this me doing something wrong!?

Same for me. TBH I don’t notice much of a difference with this latest “update”. Still far from a finished product.

Same thing for me. I also would like to know if it is a bug or a user issue.
On another note I have been asking UK support about roadmap for Play and what features are likely to appear and when.

The initial response is not encouraging. They don't know what is going to be implemented or when. They have asked the developers but have received no response.
I had initially thought that Play would have the same features that 2020 has but with better graphics. However the feeling that the UK support has it it will be simply a program to play sim golf but with better graphics .
Disappointing , one of the things I really like about 2020 is the ability to tailor the screens that appear after the shot, like the graphics of the clubhead with impact position, angle of attack, path etc . Also the ability to use cameras of my choice.
I get the feeling that they are not going to provide this for Play.
If 2020 is ceasing to be developed in favour of Play , why would new quad buyers opt for Play if no clubhead graphics are available?
I don't understand , Foresight should really publish what they intend to do with this software and when.
Last time I buy into an "upgrade" without actual specifics of what will be provided .

This is really sad. There are still bugs and features we wanted to see fixed on FSX 2020 and if they are only working on Play now then we will never see those features and if play is only for sim golf we will never see those features added to either.

This is ominous indeed.

FSX2020 has its quirks and glitches, and the graphics are not great, but it has improved over time and in terms of configurability and overall playability I really like it. I am not a software developer, but it would not seem so hard to just take FSX2020 as the baseline, keep all the features the same, and upgrade the graphics. That is what I was hoping Play would be, and I would happily pay for that. I do not have it but from what I hear, Play looks nicer but is otherwise inferior to 2020 in just about every respect. I am not going to buy it until it's a product that I think I would use and like more than FSX2020. It is obviously not there yet.

Room Config tool is completly gone. Cant find it anywhere on my computer. trying to reinstall play hoping it would come back but it wont. Anyone know how to find it of redownload it?

Hello sinkingputts - This should be present when installing the software. Search "RoomConfig" with your Windows search function.

If you are unable to find the application I would recommend reinstalling from the software product support page: www.foresightsports.com/support/software

If you continue to have trouble please submit a formal ticket for Technical Support from the link at the bottom of the product support pages.
