  • Hit Approach Shots Only?

    Hi Folks,

I've searched for the last 10 minutes or so but haven't found the answer. Is there a way to drop a ball in the fairway on course in FSX 2020? I can't actually swing a driver in my space (or really anything longer than a 6 iron) and I'd like to play courses as essentially par 3s just to keep things interesting.

Is there a way to do that?

    Thank you

This thread mentions making a custom par 3 course, as well as the forward tee recommendations - both great suggestions which I'll try.

Is there a list of which courses are fantasy courses somewhere? I have a couple of them and while these two are quirky, I've had a lot of fun with them. The two I am talking about is Blue Bayou and......well damn it, I've forgotten the name of the other one, but the short tees are 6,800 yrds and it's a par 74. Anyway, I'd

But it would be really cool to practice approach shots on say - Pebble 6 or 8

      Go to
Improve > New Session> Pick course> Start> Then on the right side mini map > right click where you want to drop a ball.

You can move all over any hole but you can’t save a course. That would be cool if that was possible though.

I hate when something is as simple as "right click" and I wasn't able to find it in the instructions or figure it out by myself. Thank you!

Do you happen to know if there's a quick / easy way to change holes if you want to jump around a course (or even change courses)? At this point I'm backing entirely out and starting a new Improve > New Session> Pick course> Start.

        Thanks again!

Yeah, exactly what sinking putts says.

on changing holes, as long as you are in practice mode on a course, you just hit the flag with the green icon and pick the hole you want to play.

Thank you! I've watched several YT vids trying to pick up on some of the intricacies of the software but am not quite there yet.

When the PGA tour is playing at a course i have on FSX 2020 i drop balls in the same spots as the leader is playing from and hit the same shots. Really fun

Anyone happen to know the meaning of the different inflight ball tracer colors. I see green, blue and white but don’t know why i get one color over the other except I’m pretty sure white is a bad shot.

I believe the tracer colors are just indicating different clubs. For example, Yellow = Driver, Blue = 6 iron, etc. You can set those colors when you add clubs or modify the program choices that are pre-assigned. I don't remember where in the program those settings are, but I don't think they have anything to do with the quality of the shot.
