Friend came over today and he's a scratch golfer. Tinkers a lot with shafts, club heads...Knows his swing well. He loved the sim and he was getting accurate distance, path, etc but he said the launch angle and angle of attack are way off. I would have to agree that things didn't seem to add up. Using a 10.5 degree driver, getting launch angles of 18-20 degrees and angle of attack of 8-9. Usually he is 11-12 degrees launch and 4-5 AOA with distances similar. Any ideas?

Foresight GC3 launch angle and angle of attack issue?

Well, the unit sits on the garage floor which is slightly sloped down. The launch mat sits on the same floor so I think this should neutralize things out, but maybe when one would swing, the nature of it would compensate. Unit says 3 degree slope.....Last edited by flynwa320; 05-16-2022, 03:13 AM.

What about tee height & positioning? If he's teeing the ball up slightly higher than usual, or slightly more forward in his stance, I think that would affect both Launch Angle & Angle of Attack, correct? What was used to determine the data you are comparing it too? Do you have any other data to compare such as point of impact, clubhead speed and ball speed?

So, I leveled the unit and we hit more drives. Even thought the hitting mat and floor are sloped, apparently the unit just captures the club, ball and now the numbers seem closer to normal. When I started making the adjustment, the slope was -3 degrees.

These units measure relative to themselves but report numbers adjusted by their orientation so as to reflect distances and angles at a level location.
As an example if you have a unit that is say 3 degrees up and you hit a ball which the unit measures as 11 degrees up the reported launch number would be .11-3=8. and the calculated carry would be for a 8 degree launch angle on level ground.

Really good info here on how the GC3 and GCQuad work.

How do you access the information on that page. None of the links are clickable.Originally posted by chicub15 View PostReally good info here on how the GC3 and GCQuad work.
