  • St. Andrews Links The Complete Collection

I'm mad at myself for even considering the St Andrews Collection because I said I was never going to buy another course until all of my courses are converted to Play. I was one of Foresights earlies customers and I had St Andrews. When they upgrades to 2018 they wouldn't let me transfer it. As I remember, playing the course was nothing special other than the fact it was St Andrews. I know Foresight makes it sound like a great deal but aren't the Old, Castle and Jubilee courses pretty much the same as The Old Course. If any of you have loaded the courses in Play, are the graphics that much better. I know I have to make up my own mind but just wanted some feedback. Thanks

Played last night and it’s awesome they did a really good job on this course and even though I can’t play full graphics on some of the other courses I was able to play full graphics on this course smoothly. You can see the contour of the greens and the fairways really good I already owned this one so I didn’t pay extra for it but I would buy it if I had to choose. It’s the 150th anniversary of the Open, you got to have this one in your library

Yeah, I'm not really a fan either. I was really hoping it would've turned out better and hoping that they plan on making it so and just rushed it for The Open.

Links courses struggle on any simulation. The beauty of links golf is seeing and feeling the contours around the greens. You just have to feel the shot, like i hit it here and let it feed down the slope. This is tough to simulate hitting into a screen. Simulation is better at "you need to fly this exactly 75 yard to carry this bunker/water" in my opinion, regardless of which program you use.

Very true. Anyone who watched The Open can clearly see that St Andrews is a historic course, but far from "lush, green and beautiful." Does it really matter in simulator environment?

Couldn't agree more. Still glad St. Andrews is avail in Play now even if it is a tad underwhelming.....

Ive played the old course twice, and honestly you dont even know where you are hitting it half the time, let alone where the danger is. The yardage book they give you has very specific aiming points to direct your tee shots. some of this is lost in the sim, along with the already mentioned contours in and around the greens. That being said, wish we could get like an entire open rota set!
