  • Subscription renewal swing catalyst, free course

I just renewed my swing catalyst subscription through foresight and they have 3 different courses you can add.
Bonus tip if you get a good customer service rep you can switch the course out for a different regular priced one.
I ended up switching out for Lonnie Pool, beautiful course in North Carolina that I got to play last year so that was cool to be able to do.
    cheers!

Might be dumb questions, but I'm going to ask anyway.

Are you using SC while your on Play ?????? If so, how are you looking at the stats ??? Also,if so, does SC make Play the same as 2020 with cameras ???

I haven’t messed with play just because it was so buggy , maybe it’s better. 99% of the time I just use fsx2020 range. I just started using fsx pro though so getting used to it. Swing catalyst is great though, sometimes I just use it on its own

I do yes. I have FSX Play on the impact screen/projector, and I use SC on a secondary monitor/TV on the sidewall. I also have a touchscreen monitor near the PC which can be used. But generally I can review the swings on the side monitor as desired. SC also imports all the GCQuad club data into SC so I can set up a series of side panels so the display will have both cameras side-by-each, then the series of club and swing data panels to the right of that and the series of swing captures below. All in all a fantastic set-up IMO and very similar (but more in-depth info) than FSX2020. You can draw on the video and import professional swings for comparison as well. Great program, especially if you have multiple cameras.

At some point I will probably add swing cameras to my GCQuad. Looks like you have to pay a yearly subscription for SC, correct? Based on your responses, you think it is worth it instead of trying to find something that doesn't charge a yearly fee (or maybe all options require subscription)? What is your camera setup? TIA.

Many people prefer FSX Play range to the basic FSX 2020 range. Also if you are looking for a possible solution just for a range and Swing Catalyst, FSX Pro is also very nice and basic similar to the FSX 2020 range. I would also recommend putting Swing Catalyst on a 2nd or 3rd screen for easy viewing and comparison.
Also as a bit of information, Surfthing has both of the Swing Catalyst cameras in stock. We have partnered with them for better service. Check them out here. https://surfthing.com/collections/cameras

          As to Cameras.

I have two of 120 FPS cameras mentioned several times on the, "Which cameras should I get" threads for FSX2020. They are not the greatest but I am not either. They work very well with showing me my swing. Will they work with SC or is there a way to tell if they will work with SC ???

950.00 for a branded swing cat camera is ridiculously overpriced. The kayeton 120fps cameras work great for less than 100.00 or if you really need 226 fps you can get blackfky3 usb for 300-400.00

Kayeton cameras are great for what they are don't get me wrong. However they are driverless and offer less control of the image. With the Swing Catalyst Cameras, they have developed very specific drivers that allow more option in the program and will allow for fine tuning.

Will the Imaging Source cameras you sell work well with Swing Catalyst?

            • #9
Tom Howarth Technically I have seen them "work". They are not stable however because they have never designed the software to work with the camera drivers. They have a list of compatible cameras on their website and Imaging Source is not on there.

That is a bummer. I have the IS cameras. Foresight has integrated them with FSX 2020 and then got involved with Swing Catalyst. I guess I would have to download the free trial and see what happens. I can't imagine I am the only one with IS cameras (very nice and expensive) that would like to switch to Swing Catalyst.

mtheurer - yes, Swing Catalyst is an annual subscription. Options to buy through Foresight Sports (which I do) and direct and three levels depending on how many cameras you are supporting. I want to say the purchase through Foresight might be a tad less expensive and I think they through in a free course depending on when you purchase. Anyway, this is what I have done. Free updates for the year and on-line and on PC storage of video sessions.

I use two Imaging Source DFK 33UX273 cameras with A3Z2812CS-MPWIR lenses. I have them set up down the line from the rear view and face on for my right handed swing. I run them at their native 1440 x 1080 and get the full 238 fps in full color. As Surfthing Computers has mentioned there are plenty of ways to optimize the cameras for your setup. Only 'gothca' is to ensure the Imaging source camera optimization program is closed before you open Swing Catalyst or it sometimes causes issues. Proper DC lighting is the hey to success here IMO. The cameras are pricey and there are other options but I am very happy with the results. So far, rock solid results and performance when using both FSX2020 and Play (and the unmentionable software FWIW). I have not used the Cameras with FSX Pro but I do not see why if would not work as advertised as well.

Need a little help getting up and running with SC. I'm not showing any launch monitors in the hardware settings.

What, if anything, did you have to do to set up your monitor ??

Hmm, do not recall anything specific. I will check the settings later on today. I do recall selecting GC Quad as my monitor at some point. as an aside, what license did you buy and did you buy it from Foresight sports or direct from Swing Catalyst. IIRC - not all licenses have launch monitor support.

Purchased directly from Foresight. From watching a few YouTube videos it seems where others have selected a launch monitor I have a search function but it returns zero monitors to select. I'm plugged in with USB.

StanMI - I don't see anything weird or special in my setup. Have you reviewed the SC Webpage?: How to setup launch monitor as capture trigger – Swing Catalyst - Help Center
                      1. Start Swing Catalyst and open Hardware settings from the settings menu
                      2. Make sure you have connected your launch monitor device to the computer
                      3. Make sure the the launch monitor software is running*
                      4. Under Launch Monitor check the Enabled box to start registering ball and **club data from the launch monitor
                      5. Check Use as trigger to automatically trigger video recordings when a shot is registered
                      6. Swing Catalyst will now automatically trigger a video recording every time a shot is registered.
                      * Foresight can be used without the Foresight simulator software running. Please see the corresponding support article for how to use Foresight with Swing Catalyst.

Beyond that, I might try the uninstall/reinstall and ensuring that AV and firewall are not interfering. I also always run these kinds or programs as Administrator. Seems to fix certain gremlins with FSX.

Thanks so much for the post, I really appreciate the help!!!

Had I have read your post or the directions in detail I'd be further along !

Step Golf Simulator Forum says to have launch monitor software running. I did not do that because I associated LM software as something that would be an operating system for my LM and not one of Foresights gaming platforms.......my mistake. Remote in from Foresight corrected this with starting FSX2020 before starting SC. LM now shows in "Hardware" set up for SC. Now I need to upgrade my PC so both can run at the same time.

I requested help from Foresight and SC............have yet to hear from SC (I do realize they are based in Norway) got a return call from Foresight in about an hour.
