There really is no excuse for not having all of the courses updated. That being said, I wonder if they are having the same issue with some courses like they had with Merion. Apparently, Merion didn’t allow Foresight to use their course, that is why it was removed. If you had Merion, contact your rep to give you another course. Maybe this is happening to some of the courses that I have, Kingsbarn, Olympic, Royal Birkdale, Schaumburg and Warwickshire. You may have others. If that is the case, we should be notified. Unfortunately, that is highly unlikely.

Surprised they haven’t updated Royal Birkdale yet. Also didn’t realize they had Castle Stuart available.Originally posted by jasonreg View PostGuess it was 7:Castle Stuart Golf Links Mission Hills Olazabal Course Rivercrest Golf Club Preserve Rivermont Golf Club Royal Birkdale The Crossing Willmette Golf Club
I think the last time I checked they still have around 50 courses or so to update.Last edited by ENadeau; 01-01-2024, 08:38 PM.

We won't be getting Castle Stuart for FSX Play - the course is now owned by the Cabot group so presumably they will withdraw the license for that one too. What that means for Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links is anyone's guess (do they remain available, or get taken down completely like Merion?).
Olympic and Olazabal I think are in the same category - will not be coming for Play.
All pretty unfortunate.

I really don't get the marketing strategy of a course (or group) denying the course to be played in a simulator. From my way of thinking it just increases the desire to play the course IRL. If you can afford the trip (and it is getting harder all the time) to play bucket list courses, you can't tell me anyone is going to say "No thanks, I played it on FSX Play - I'm good". Trademarking is one thing, but charge a reasonable fee and folks will align and increase the course buzz.....Originally posted by delaloi View PostWe won't be getting Castle Stuart for FSX Play - the course is now owned by the Cabot group so presumably they will withdraw the license for that one too. I don't know jasonreg, but the trend is sure bad for Foresight. They can't have all the premium courses just deciding they don't want to be on the platform anymore. I mean, if Cabot and Merion can call it quits from one day to the next, presumably nothing prevents Pebble and St Andrews from doing the same. Then course owners are left with, at best, picking the leftovers at Foresight for equivalent credit on other courses. The whole FSX Play model could come crashing down pretty fast, with lots of customers sitting on thousands of dollars of course purchases worthless.
I have not yet turned to the dark side, mostly just because I haven't had a lot of time for sim golf the last few months. But that is the direction the wind is blowing.

I agree with Jasonreg above in that I don’t understand why a club would not want their courses available for play through Foresight. We had a group of guys specifically take a trip to play Glen Abbey last year after playing it a few times in the sim (and Tigers history there helped as well).
With that said, I know nothing about trademarking and licensing. I did speak to Foresight support about Cabot Cliffs and Links and they stated when it came to renewal, Cabot chose not to renew.
I would assume the multi-year contract is a similar structure as other brands. Checked with a buddy who owns a Trackman and he mentioned they’ve lost a few courses as well which seems crazier to me as Trackman is officially partnered with the PGA Tour. Both Foresight and Trackman continue to add courses but it’s definitely frustrating to see a couple of big ones disappear.
I would be more worried owning GSPro where nothing is officially licensed and is all community created. If I recall correctly, there were a bunch of courses removed due to license infringement last year, specially all the TPC courses. I'm not crazy about that "gray area" where a course is copied but the name is tweaked to bypass any copyright infringement, just seems sketchy. I prefer to own official tracks outright which is why I’ve been avoiding GSPro but with how FSX Play has been lately, I may be making a jump.Last edited by ENadeau; 01-09-2024, 07:43 PM.
