  • GCQuad to GCQuad Max Upgrade Cost

I'd like to share the conversation had recently with the Foresight sales rep regarding the upgrade cost.

So I bough a brand new GCQuad and took the Black Friday deal about 60 days ago (fully loaded unit with about $6,000 off). It is the new GCQuad with club and putting data. Foresight asked for $4,500 to upgrade from the 60 day old GCQuad to Quad MAX. One thing I am not sure about the upgrade is if they will just upgrade the hardware components in the same Quad, or if they will send out the separate brand new Quad Max. But they did mention that the serial number will be different.

To me, it is kind of a "fair" price since they just want me to pay for the different between the discounted price and the retail price (equivalent to buy the brand new Quad Max at round $20,000, fully loaded). But the new MAX features, in my humble option, do not justify the price tag. Any thoughts?

I certainly do not see the cost/benefit of upgrading and my Quad is over 4 years old. The changes are cosmetic and with a 60-day old Quad, the new version will not be more reliable in any way.

    My two cents.

You can get a 100.00 swing speed radar and put next to your quad if you really need club head speed training feature..

Yep, I happen to have this radar device bought when I was owning the gc2. I bought the gc3 which measures club head speed and put it in the closet. Now it is time to take it out, lol! What I don't like about Foresight is that they still try to take advantage of you even you are loyal customer.

There may be a point in the not so distant future where upgrading your Quad to a Max may be worth it. Especially if you take it outside a lot. However, most of us simply use inside, with software, and I don't see the benefit of upgrading yet. And above poster is correct -- you can buy a 100-200 swing speed monitor for swing training.

The QuadMax is really built for those who use it outside a lot. I could really see the benefit if you had a junior golfer or someone on the range/short game area almost every day.

Also, if considering an upgrade, I would wait and see if Christmas in July or Black Friday specials pop up. I wouldn't do anything until then.

To be honest, I bring my Quad outside a lot to the driving range (but not to the golf course). But I still do not see additional values added by Quad Max.

The tile is a good feature to have but the Foresight App in iPhone can do the same work. But one good thing I found about Quad Max is that Foresight lowered the regular Quad price by $2,000.

And yep, can't agree any more with swing speed monitor. I own one and it works very well.

Thank you for this information! Kind of talked me out of contacting them. My quad is 3 years old and is part of a Foresight Sim-ib-a-box simulator. Frankly I have not been thrilled with Foresight at all, as far as customer service goes. I stupidly bought a Fore Caddy and that is the worst electric cart I have ever seen. I have owned 3 and that one sits in my laundry room only to come out every once in a while and it pisses me off that it gets the laundry room time out after each use

They never contact you to see how you are doing or if you have any suggestions. I just do not see the benefit in the upgrade. Haha - I have wanted a sling bag since I bought mine when they did not give you the sling bag, b ut for $175 it is a tough pill to swallow for a simple carrying case. If anyone gets the two costs straight 1) Upgrade your unit, 2) Upgrade to new Quad Max, please post the prices here. I have the putting s/w as well, wondering if everything transfers

Here is additional flavor: my newly bought Quad has been suffering 4 dot missing reading issue (it only read 1 dot mode although I put 4 dots on club face) and they wanted me to send it back for diagnose and repair. I told them that given this sad experience and asked if they would lower the upgrade fee. But Foresight declined and took a strong stance in this instance.

Funny thing is I thought about their Fore Caddy, and determined that renting a golf cart would be a cheaper option, lol!

I think they mentioned the upgraded Quad Max will have club and putting functions (my current one has both club and putting).

See this is how my interactions go with them. You can NOT treat your customers like garbage because in the long run it will bite you in the butt. If there as a competitor all they have to do is to offer you a similarly priced upgrade to their system and offer you customer service and you would bolt. The reason Foresight is doing OK is the lack of a clear alternative.

The ForeCaddy was lowered to something like $1,300 this past summer - I think they were clearing out their inventory prior to offering an upgrade. They just do things that say to me we are in it for ourselves and we do not give a crap about our customers - the customers are a nuisance to us. That sounds harsh but anyone that is a customer of theirs knows this is true.

For me - my motto is the customer is always right and everything flows from there. Morons think that means that the customer is always factually correct and that is not what it means, it means that if you do not take care of your customer someone else will and you will be out of business shortly. I would love to be in charge of marketing of a company that was a competitor of Foresight and I would put them out of business in 24 months max. They are so arrogant and super vulnerable. The arrogance does not allow them to see it. Its unfortunate that most companies are run from profits backwards instead of taking care of the customer first and everything profit wise flows from there. If you are familiar with LAB Golf, they are a company that is run by a brilliant CEO - Sam Hahn is a riot and so down to earth - they care about their customers.

Just back from UPS and it costs about $450 to ship it back to Foresight for diagnose and repair. No way I am going to pay for that given the price tag.😒

@Pye - sorry for your experience. Are you certain that you are using the correct fiducials (dots), applying them correctly, and they are not worn/damaged? I think 9 times out of 10, when someone has a problem getting 4-dot club data, the problem is the dots and not the Quad. All 4 dots have to be just right for the Quad to read them reliably. (If 1 or 2 dots are damaged, then you will get 1-dot rather than 4-dot club data.)

Does your issue come up more with irons than woods? It's a lot easier to place the dots on a driver, and they last much longer without getting damaged.

That's all right, accident happens especially for precision high tech device. I have been gone through the troubleshooting process with the support agent with four new original dots. I still see similar frequency between iron and driver. The driver is slightly better because the iron clubs contact grass/soil much more frequently. It was concluded that I need to send it back.

But it costs $450 to ship it with the appropriate shipping insurance (otherwise UPS covers only $100 if the shipment is lost). This is unacceptable buying as a new device with a jumbo price tag.

Given its new, Foresight should be covering the cost of shipping under warranty. I had issues a few years ago and Foresight Canada paid for the shipping of the unit to them and back to me. I had to ask them to cover the shipping but they agreed right away. just a thought....

Did anyone get an email about there being an upgrade price vs a conversion price......that gave me a good snicker honestly. am curious what the price differences are though if anyone bothered.

I think I saw it somewhere $4,500 for upgrading and $8,000 (maybe $8,500) for trade in and get a new one.

As far as the upgrade, are they modifying your hardware, and if they do are the warranting the "upgrade" for a period of time? My concern would be them potentially damaging something in your hardware during their upgrade and they sticking you with the repair are that bit fails.

How much is the Quad Max? I thought I saw the price and I can no longer see it. $19,999 is the number sticking in my head.
