New FSX Play v1.10.0.10 Released

I'm not too computer savvy, but I know my specs easily meet the requirements for FSX Play
Intel i7
NVIDIA 3070
Enough Ram to keep several sheep farms going.

Super frustrating and I totally get it. Up until this version I was 4 versions back before I could find one that ran stable enough for my specific setup (mostly having issues with players being removed mid-round after using a mulligan or drop which made the game unplayable).

FSX Play is very resource heavy, especially the later versions. While your PC Specs definitely meet minimum requirement they are certainly on the lower end. What graphics settings are you using within FSX Play and have you tried dropping it to the lowest to see if that makes a difference?

I agree that it’s a bit nuts you need a full gaming PC to run some of this stuff but it seems to be the way most of the bigger brands are moving. I’ve heard GSPro is much less resource intensive but personally really want to stick with Foresight.

It is, but every new course increases the load on most older systems. It is a trade-off between realism (textures, wind effects, water motion, ball/terrain physics, scenery etc.) and demands on GPU (specifically the on-board VRAM) and overall bus speeds (ability for the PC to move data around the PC between components).

Don't get me wrong, Foresight definitely has some work to do to code this data better as GS Pro does, but folks the trend is not in the direction of the venerable 1080Ti ........(loved that card BTW).

This is the option if you are not in a position to upgrade your system, and the lower graphics quality are just fine for game play for most folks (in fact many say they cannot tell the difference between Ultra and High / High and Medium etc.. But, and take this is the spirit it is offered, if you want the best graphics possible, there is a cost associated in terms of hardware - there just is. Other options include GS Pro as discussed above.

Thanks for that. I always have graphic quality set to medium, seems little point to have it set any higher on a 1080 projector.
2025 upgrade will be a 4k projector and will then look to upgrade PC components at the same time.
I like Foresight a lot, it's just so frustrating that the clear graphic improvements over FSX 2020 can't come with 2020's reliability, and what should be a simple upgrade turns into an annoyance.
Hopefully once our AI overlords take over everything will work in the same way for everyone and maybe they will make Foresight give me back Pebble Beach (which I had on FR1).

I like Foresight, FSX 2020 was great and FSX Play seems to have a lot of potential.
Have graphics set to meduim, seems pointless to put it on high for a 1080 projector.
2024 upgrade was a GC3
2025 will be a 4k projector and PC spec upgrade.

So I have similar specs

intel 12th gen i7 (what gen do you have?)
I have the Nvidia 3070Ti (which is about 1/3 faster in thrugput spped ~900Gb/s vs ~600Gb/s)
32 gigs of Ram

What motherboard do you have? I think one thing people miss is the BUS speeds on the motherboard.

Have you gone through the setup per Foresight as regards to graphics settings?

One final thing how is you're Quad connected? wifi, USB or Ethernet.

Hope we can figure this out, in fairness Foresight need to be on top of these type of user specific issues.

One final thought can you download MSI afteburner? it will help you monitor FPS in real time. Everybody should download this free utility its very helpful in understanding in real time whats going in with the GPU and the FPS.

I'll check the motherboard thing in the morning.
Have a GC3 connected by data cable.
Followed the graphics settings although the reference to MS Flight Simulator took me back nearly 30 years.
Have the setting on medium, seems little point in having a higher setting until I get a 4k projector.

As an update, I decided to upgrade my graphics card on the basis that I may as well future proof against future upgrades. Works fine now.

Fsx 4k low graphics vs gspro ultra 4k on the range. 3060ti, 32 gb ram, 7 yr old i7 6700k. Just tried this on a 4k monitor but usually run 1080p on projector. The amount of gpu and vram resources fsx uses just for low quality driving range is sad compared to ultra on gspro…

So, I am not as familiar with that model but if it worked previously, one would think you would be good now regardless of the disclaimer about not supporting Imaging Source cameras. I would go back to basics:

• Have you reloaded or updated the camera drivers (it looks like there were updated drivers for the GigE cameras in Dec 2023 - they may have automatically downloaded as part of FSX2020 but they may not be a part or FSX Play!)? I know my Imaging Source DFK 33UX273 cameras need drivers which do not download automatically with IC 2.5 or certainly not FSX Play: GenTL Producer for GigE Vision Cameras 1.0.0.554 (theimagingsource.com)
• Have you set up the cameras properly using IC Capture v2.5? It looks like those cameras are limited to 640×480 @120 FPS so this is how they need to be set up in the IC Capture software - make sure you are saving the configuration both as a separate file but also as the start-up configuration or your cameras will reset each time. IC Capture - Image Acquisition 2.5.1557.4007 (theimagingsource.com)
• Make sure once you have set up the cameras and saved the start-up config you close the IC software before you open FSX Play or you may get conflicts.

Post back with results and we can go from there.

It takes approximately 15 seconds to download video before I can see my swing. Unsure if this is the norm? I like the flow with FSX 2020 whereas the swing video automatically appeared on screen after hitting golf shot. On Play need to go to analysis tab and hit video and then wait 15 seconds. I am unable to find a work through in looking at Play settings.

There isn’t one as far as I’m aware. Several folks have noted the same thing. I was able to get the delay down to about 4 to 5 seconds by deselecting save videos to your PC. But again that’s still not the right solution. I have a Trouble Ticket in with FS. Hopefully they will fix the problem in the next update,

That is pretty much everything you need to know right there. I build a new gaming rig about every 2 years. The new one sits in my office and plays games, and then the old one runs my golf sim in my garage. My current golf rig is running a gen 12 i7 and a 3080ti, plenty of memory, high end MoBo. I don't mess around when it comes to gaming PCs, and have been building them for 20+ years. I can run GSRPO at max settings on my 4k projector at 60 FPS with no issue whatsoever. I try in FSX and its a stuttery laggy mess. This isn't about whether my PC is up to snuff, its simply bag programming. There is zero reason a game with this graphics quality should be this CPU/GPU intensive. Never met a game I couldnt max out other than FSX play.

Call me a complainer or a GSPRO fanboy. I will stick to FSX 2020 for my range, Swing Catalyst for my swing, and GSPRO for everything else.

Same here except I use FSX Pro for range work as it’s easier to tag clubs etc. but the graphics on it are even worse than FSX2020.

I purchased q swing camera on Foresight (Kayeton 720p/120FRPS) for dual video swings with my Image Source on FSX Play. I have not tried using them concurrently as unable to get the Kayeton camera to record my swings. In Setting, the camera is identified and in preview window working properly. However after hitting a golf ball - and going to analysis and then video tab I get a message that there is no recording. I switched to FSX 2020 and camera works fine and records my swings. My FSX play software is up to date. I tried not saving video swings to PC and same result. I put in a support ticket to Foresight and awaiting their response. Inquiring if anyone has run into this issue. I thank you in advance.

Does FSX Pro have altitude adjustment yet? I first looked at it a few years back, and at the time it seemed everything was sea level. I live in Denver, so kind of a deal breaker for me. Might have been a LM issue as it was right after the GC3 came out.

it does NOT have an altitude adjustment. It reads the carry number direct from the GCQ so if you are hitting balls at the Denver elevation, FSX Pro will show you the carry numbers for the Denver altitude. If you want FSX Pro to show carry numbers at a different elevation (eg sea level), you can adjust the altitude directly on the GCQ through the unit menu screens. FSX Pro will just show the data it gets from the GCQ.

The update has made FSX 2020 completely unusable for me.
It worked fine for a couple of days and now the FPS is down to 10-15. I have an RX 6800 and AMD Ryzen 5700 processor, 16GB of memory and SSD storage. I can play CyberPunk on High settings so it's definitely not my computer.
