So what is the cost of a new GC2 without any software, approx 7.5K? I wonder what it would be if you got just the software fitting package?

Seeing as they don't make any money off of the SDK, they are now hitting the end user. FUN TIMES

I could be wrong, but I believe all resellers are required to charge the same $1,000 SDK fee,

Agree......call again because I think the MSRP is $6,600.00 for the unit alone and it should be in their interest to sell units. Why should it be the consumers problem if other software companies are faster and more efficient at providing software? All this competition should be good for us, but this SDK fee makes no sense. It assumes that you are going to use software. Just tell them that you are looking to use this exclusively at the outdoor ranges.

I have gc2 and originally had fs1 software. Love the range. Got fsx and hate the range. Recently bought TGC and I think once I get it tweaked will love the course options and graphics. It was a struggle for me to get TGC working but support is amazing. Maybe see if you can get old fs1 software used. Very easy interface. I haven't tried TGC range. Check back with me in a week.

The GC2 is a launch monitor, not a simulation package. How can they expect people to pay extra if they only want it for what it's intended for? It would be like forcing me to buy a trailer with when I buy a new car. I think a lot of people are calling Foresight and asking about using the GC2 with TGC which has to piss off Foresight.

Their loss. I'm sure they will lose a decent chunk of business to st and es16. I was really thinking these guys would be introducing newer cheaper technology this year or next to hold onto their position as the leader in camera systems.

Hear you on FSX. Does TGC have a range, or are there other options without the $2K nut for software that is less than highly regarded?

It amazes me how it seems that each company involved here (skygolf, foresight) could get additional units sold with a little common sense and service. The above posts remind me of a year +ago when I was deciding between skytrak or gc2. I love the gc2 but the extra price was and still is difficult to overcome. I called foresight and spoke with a rep and was asking him about software options. I mentioned TGC and other second party options. He replied that their lawyers were on this and 'other options' would not be around for long. I figured he was just trying to sell me software but it scared me enough to stay away from foresight. Just stupid of them to do that as I bought a skytrak and moved on....kind of. It now appears to me that there is not going to be a simulator option this winter for skytrak and I have (like many) considered dumping the skytrak for gc2 or waiting forES16....BUT...Foresight again comes up with a reason for me to stay away...crazy. With the amount of GC2s they sell to big box stores I imagine they don't care much about 5-10 people who want to play simulator golf in their basement but every sale should be a good sale right?

I'm sure big box stores don't pay half of what we would have to. I have askytrak but want a gc2 but don't have that kind of $

Rcush88, I got mine for $3400, only $1400 more and it's a MUCH better LM than skytrak. That being said though, if ST had full sim play, I probably wouldn't of jumped ship.

Big box stores are also on a budget. So they will ditch Foresight as soon as a viable lower cost option comes along. Right now there is none, but one of these days there will be...

They won't ditch it beacuse the technology is still good. Replacement units and new installs will be the viable low cost option.

I had an interesting back and forth with Foresight Golf sales as well. Called to get a quote. They asked me "what application will you be using this for?" I explained that I just wanted to use the device for the data that is displayed on the unit. He told me that the device was $6995, but if I were willing to buy this week they would offer me a "deal" of $6395. I told him i would think about it. He emailed me his info. The next day I emailed back and asked if that was the cheapest that they could sell the unit and that if they could come down to $5995 I would consider buying it. He told me that they could sell the unit for $5995, BUT, that he'd forgot to tell me that I'd also have to buy a software package or SDK fee of at least $1025 or software of 1500, 1700, or 1900 minimum with the unit. Unreal... (I'm trying to give you my money!!!) Does anyone know of a third party that sells these without charging the fees?

Sounds like Foresight is trying to get out of the launch monitor business.

I called a 3rd party vendor and they said the same thing about the SDK but my rep said he could sell the unit separate for 6600

F pressure sales and the people who use these tactics. Anytime someone tries to sell me something and puts a time qualifier on the offer, the deal is off, period.

The decision has to be made today? I always tell them "my dad was a salesman. And he taught me one thing. If I absolutely have to decide today, it's the easiest decision in the world--the answer is NO."

In all seriousness, there are very few justifications in business for time limiting an offer. Basically, the only decent one is limited supply on an item. If that isn't the case, "let me stop you right here" is the way to go with these people.

And yes, as others have said, utterly stupid business practices. In the next 36 months, launch monitors are going to transition from an item found at big box stores (that is also found in the homes of the uber rich) to something that is pretty common in the homes of serious amateur players. Someone in the industry is going to realize this first, abandon the pricing model designed around business customers, and make a killing on sales volume. Skygolf had the opportunity, but greed (and overall poor business ethics) got the best of them.

With the company's long history of selling CONSUMER launch monitors, I have a feeling that Ernest Sports may be the one to watch. They got to see Skygolf squander the first to market advantage.

It's absolutely insane that Foresight is essentially looking to RAISE prices instead of lower them.
