    GC2 and TGC a good fit for commercial use?

    I just opened a small 2 bay facility both powered by gc2-t units and the foresight FSX software. I am experiencing many of the issues that others have discussed on this forum (poor customer support, glitchy graphics, performance issues). I'm very happy with how everything turned out (I did nearly all of it myself), but see no end in sight to the software issues. I have heard so many good things about TGC on this site. I was hoping I could get everyone's feed back on a few questions as I haven't heard back from protee customer support...

    1. Is TGC a good fit for commercial use? Spe. cifically, I have heard about connection issues and settings being a bit complicated. Also, I am concerned the interface (and 82,000 courses) would be unwieldy for a customer off the street. I went with FSX thinking it would be plug and play...could TGC function just as well in commercial environment?

    2. I have 2 gc2t units in one bay (for rh and lh play ) and 1 in the other. Can I use TGC with the gc2t? If so, does having 2 units in one bay create issues (connection problems, left handed issues etc....)?

    3. Of the 82,000 courses, how many are high quality? I have seen some pretty incredible screen shots of some online), but wasn't sure what percentage of the courses they represent.

    4. Am I giving up the accuracy of the gc2 system by not using their software? That's one of my selling points, that the sims are accurate.

    I have seen Bubba chime in a lot on TGC related topics. I could really use guidance here as I can't afford a second mistake on software...

      TGC is great for someone knowing how to use it. I don't know about a public use environment. It's Bluetooth so I'm pretty sure it's one device at a time. My recommendation is stick with FSX.

          The PC that reads the GC2 data can connect multiple GC2's and keep track of them all at once.
          The software that receives the data from the GC2's and pas it on to the TGC or PG could esilly be adopted to read from 2 diffrent units and keep track of what unit fired the shoot.
          I strongly doubt that this feature has been added to any of the interfaces. So you would need to talk to the ones developing them and ask if they are willing to add it.

            I have multiple gc2a units. I purchased the second gc2a unit for my office. The first gc2a unit is used in my garage. I use tgc on my garage gc2. I believe I have read that I can use my surface book with all the protee and tgc software with both gc2a units. In other words the software doesn’t care which gc2 unit is connected to it, unlike SkyTrak. That way I only have to move my computer between the 2 locations. Am I correct?

              My post was about playing left and right handed using two gc2's at the same time.

              What if they were to limit the number of courses available for the public to pick from and then they set them up to start? Is TGC manageable by customers then? They could then know what to look for in TGC and get the customer going.

                  I own an indoor golf center using 4 ProTee systems. In my opinion I don't like TGC for commercial use yet. It's getting better, but needs work still. Would love if you could save courses offline so you don't have to search and download them every time you want to play a specific course. Would also help in weeding out all the garbage courses with names of famous course, but are nothing like the real thing. That's one of the biggest problems for me. The majority of the courses are junk with some stunningly beautiful courses added in and faithful recreations of famous courses. As it is right now you have to just memorize which ones are good versions and which are terrible. Being able to save a course list offline and share it between simulators would be very helpful. And would help speed up set up time so you're not waiting for the course to download before every round.

                  Also you can't set what tee boxes to play from. This is probably a feature that will never be added and it's a huge concern for commercial use. You might have a 40 year old guy playing with his 70 year old dad. Normally they wouldn't play from the same tee boxes. Same if you bring your kids in to play. There have to be separate files for every course to play from different tee boxes the way it is right now. And it's up to the author of the course to publish different versions.

                  I don't have experience with FSX, but I prefer my customers play E6 right now. You might be better off sticking with FSX for now.

                      I posted a link to this thread on the HB forum and directed them to read your comments Richard. You've explained very clearly why these gaps (lack of multiple tees to select when playing a round and inability to download courses to the local machine) are critical for TGC to be a long-term player in the simulator space.

                          If my sims were just personal use I would just use TGC. You get online play right now and soooo, so many courses to play. For personal use there's not much reason to purchase E6. I only endorse E6 for commercial use. It's already designed for it.

                          Lately when I play for fun I use TGC.
