Older GC2 and TGC

Pulled trigger on an older GC2, does not have software.... Do all of these units have the bluetooth? Listed firmware is 3.1, will find out better once in hand..

Will i have to send to foresight to get the iOS bluetooth upgrade (which will probably mean a upgrade in firmeare too) or will this unit have what i need to run the TGC software on a pc, which is fine with me.

Getting a room setup as dedicated sim area. Looking forward to playing/practicing!

You do not need iOS bluetooth. You just need working bluetooth. As long as the bluetooth works, you're good to go...assuming the unit functions.

Is that the one on eBay for 3999? I almost bought that if so. Worried me that he said it didn't have Bluetooth. My understanding was all of them did whether they were gc2a or gc2

Yes, they all have bluetooth. Some from 2nd swing the bluetooth doesn't work just the USB cable does. If your going to get a GC2 (I highly recommend and so does most everyone else here).

There seems to be mass confusion on eBay's site as to which units have bluetooth and which do not. I realize that they all have bluetooth but the A version is also bluetooth compatible with an iPad. Very strange when reading these and hard to understand. The two that are posted right now one says nothing about bluetooth the other says that it doesn't have bluetooth because it's not version A. I would have a hard time buying either without this understanding... Can perfect golf or TGC be played using USB instead of bluetooth or is working bluetooth a must?

Working bluetooth is a must because the data that goes over the USB connection is encrypted. The lack of encryption on the data transfered over bluetooth is a mistake by Foresight, that allows everyone to use third party software.

Both tgc and pg need working bluetooth - they will not work through USB. You don't need the Gc2 A version to play Tgc or Pg.

Strange. QA says it does not have a bluetooth chip. Think all GC2s have bluetooth. Just not apple compatible.

You are correct Bruce. Maybe the seller doesn't know that or maybe the Bluetooth doesn't work.

Maybe it was used in a commercial setting, with the Bluetooth chip removed to lock down the software compatibility.

Yeah this is what scares me. I sent him a direct message and the response was:
"No simulation software is included, it does not have the Bluetooth chip, but that can be added by ForeSight." So, who knows what this unit actually has in it. Could have been removed or he could simply not know that non A versions still have blutooth...

I also just saw this. Do you need the dongle or can a gc2 be recognized by any Bluetooth adapter?

I have tried mine with 2 diffrent dongles and the built in BT on 2 diffrent laptops. Win7 and win10.
Worked fine with all of them.

This is actually kind of sad the discussion going on here...........email the seller, ask him if he an android device (phone, tablet, ect).

If the android can see the GC2, your golden. Other than that.......YOU ARE COVERED BY EBAY BUYER PROTECTION.

BUY IT, IF IT DOESN'T WORK, SEND IT BACK..................really not rocket science in buying on ebay.

Honestly, I guess buying used isn't for everyone. It's all good.
BTW, I emailed the seller too...he'll take $3500.
And I'd almost bet my own GC2 that the unit is just fine with it's bluetooth.

Well I doubt I'm covered by eBay since the listing says no bt. Is there a setting on the gc2 to enable bt or is it only visible in pair mode or always visible?

Ebay is all about buyer protection. If I didn't have one, I would buy from this seller.

There aren't many out there, the only thing I see you can loose is the return shipping cost and the initial ship cost. Worth the $40 gamble is you ask me.

I'm with goodmatt, not sure buyer protection would apply here since the seller is literally saying that the bluetooth doesn't work.

If you'd return it with the complaint that the bluetooth doesn't work....I could see someone saying that it stated that in the ad. I'm not seeing the safety net there.

Unless you can get away with saying that "Well, I thought the seller didn't know what he was talking about"....lol

I've been talking with the guy. It is quite clear the bluetooth is inactive on the unit. Foresight wants $500 to add the chip (non-apple). He has rejected my current offers.

Seriously, don't mean to sound like a dick, but come on, do some research people. To work with TGC or Perfect Golf you DON'T NEED A GC2A.

A GC2 will work great. I can't believe this thread and discussion has gotten to the point where people don't even know the specs of a product. READ my posts above.

AGAIN, THE GC2 LISTED ABOVE DOES HAVE BLUETOOTH, THEY ALL DO, IT'S JUST NOT APPLE COMPATIBLE, WHICH YOU DON'T EVEN NEED.

I'm out of this thread, if you can't figure it out, then you shouldn't even consider buying it.
