    GC2 Software Recommendations??

    Hello all -

I am building a simulator in my garage and found a used GC2 that I'm considering purchasing. The GC2 doesn't come with any software, so I'm trying to determine the best software to purchase considering my needs. I've done a lot of research online, but I can't find a lot of details on the game-improvement features of software like TGC and E6. So I was hoping those of you with experience using these different software could help point me in the right direction?

My primary goal is game improvement, so I want to be sure I have driving range functionality that gives appropriate feedback. I would also like a quality simulation software, allowing me to play multiple different courses. Lastly, I'd enjoy a mini-game component (long drive, closest to the pin, etc), but it's not a requirement. If I had to guess, I'd say that I'd like to be 70/30 game improvement to simulation.

I've found the following 3 options:
    - Foresight FSX Software ($2,200)
    - TGC Only (on sale for $995 at Swingsense)
    - TGC and E6 (on sale for $1,995 at Swingsense)
    - TGC and Protee (on sale for $1,195 at Swingsense)

Based on my research, I know all these options have different pros/cons. I don't think TGC has any driving range, which would mean I'd have to get another software for game improvement. I know FSX has both driving range and simulation, but at that price I didn't know if it makes more sense to get TGC and E6?

Any thoughts/feedback/advise would be very welcomed!!

    Thanks!

Tons of threads on these topics so you should do some reading. One other thing to consider also is Perfect Golf. It is similar to TGC in that it is more for simulation play but they also have ranges. Currently it is in Beta for GC2 so you might be able to try it out for free. Generally Foresight and E6 are considered the best for Game Improvement and TGC and PG are better for playing actual courses. I'd guess both TGC and PG will get better for game improvement over time but who knows if they'll ever get to the level you want. I have both FSX and TGC and have dabbled in PG. Never used E6.

TGC and PG do both have ranges so you can keep hitting the shots over and over but at least in TGC you don't get the same analysis as you would get in FSX and what I'd imagine E6 has.

Shot analysis in TGC is coming soon.

Great news! That's the one area that TGC falls short of what E6 does for practice.

Thanks KS-man. I've read a lot of posts on this forum regarding the various software, but haven't found a lot relating to the practice features of TGC and E6. Which I guess is what I was most curious about. But it sounds like based on what your saying that if game improvement is important that FSX and E6 are more appropriate.

TGC has many ranges with shot analysis features coming. E6 has a very nice range that already as shot analysis features. So for game driving rang analysis I would recommend FSX or E6. For simulation play I would recommend TGC or PG.

Thanks Bubba. Do you happen to know when these are coming down the pike? I'm looking to purchase something sooner rather than later, and would like to take advantage of the sales on Swingsense before they go away. So if it looks like TGC's practice features are coming soon, I can probably hold out and wait.

Can't tell you the exact date but a few of us are testing now. I am hoping they do more in the new year.

It should be said that you need Protee to use E6 so, really, what's the point? You have to buy both. FSX seems good but lots of posts of complaints. Suggest you read up.

Ah I didn't know that. I confirmed from Swingsense that I don't need the Protee software to play TGC (I only need the $995 TGC software). But didn't know that I'd need the Protee software to use E6. I guess in that case, since Protee comes with a driving range feature, that the extra $$ for E6 doesn't make sense.

You need a Protee interface and GSX from Protee to use anything with a gc2. They are included with Protee and TGC. Both Protee and TGC have ranges. Protee has some nice practice features like tracking all shots. TGC will have it soon too. Real soon.
