  • FSX Reviews

Anybody have opinions on the latest release of the FSX software? I think it is a very positive step in the right direction, but still needs some improvement. I have about 22 or so courses and was looking for anybody else's feedback regarding courses, especially the newer ones. If anyone has questions regarding the older courses, I could provide my favorites. The software still taxes the system a bit for some reason even if you have the performance setting on. Overall, I am just looking to open a forum for anything FSX since there really is nowhere on the internet with this info.

    Thanks

Mine should be here in the next 10 days. Seriously, time is moving slower than Decembers as a child.

Mine should also be here within the next 10 days. Long lead time for shipping from Foresight Sports it seems. I would recommend this to more people if it didn't take so long.

I should be able to give reviews on five courses when I do receive it. Is there any way to tell which of the courses are the newer ones? I could take a closer look at those and post reviews if I were able to tell the difference.

I bought the minimum. I am still leaning towards TGC for the sim but I want to see how FSX is first. If FSX looks good I may just buy a few more (Merion, Congressional)

Last year Foresight released 24. The first ones are listed below. They now have 53 total in their 2016 catalog that you can see online. Anything that isn't listed below was released in the beginning of this month. I would be interested to see what courses people chose. I would be willing to offer my opinions on courses, as I believe some are better than others. If anyone has experience with the newer courses, not listed below, please let me know.
        1. Teton Pines
        2. Akron
        3. Ballyowen
        4. Broken Tree

Col forbin, can you tell me what FSX Version you are running exactly?

I am running the one they just released at the beginning of February. 2.0.0.0 I believe. I think Foresight is great at making GC2's. but they just don't seem to have the manpower to keep up with the software. It has improved since they first released FSX, but it still has a long way to go. I think it will get there, which will take a lot of time as they are slow with updates, but it does have some great options. The graphics are good, but not nearly up to par with the Golf Club. Also, even with the difference in graphics, it seems like the FSX taxes the computer; whereas the Golf Club does not. I have both the Golf Club and FSX and they are both fun, but let's just say one specializes in software and one in launch monitors.

How's the fsx range games, and club fitting portion compared to the earlier fs1?
I understand that fsx sim play won't match tgc, or pg for some time at this rate and golf software's average life cycle.
If foresight would just let 3rd party handle sim, they could just focus on good club fitting range data..also drop the price on hmt so gc2 owners would get the add on.
They probably wouldn't have to worry about skytrak or es16, etc..

I don't really play the range games so I can't comment on that. The fitting is very detailed and has great information, but I would benefit a lot more if I had the HMT as it seems geared towards incorporating all data. At this point, the FS1 range is just as good if not easier to gather just GC2 information. It took them a long time to get to 2.0.0.0 & 1 dot and now that they released it, I think the tech support is bombarded with their first priority will most likely be Golf chain stores. They may have potentially underestimated the passion of the golf simulator community.

I haven't updated my FSX software since I got it in November. Not sure what version I have. It sounds like they just did an update. What is included in the new release? I only have one course and typically only use FSX for the range (and I haven't even used that in a while). Does the new version support connecting over Bluetooth or does it still require USB? That is the main reason I use either TGC or PG, even if I'm just doing a range session. Too much of a pain to connect everything and then I don't see the readout. If I only have 10 minutes I don't bother with turning on my projector screen so I want to just see the stuff on the GC2 readout. It would be nice though to be able to see my averages and dispersion after 10 hits and go to my computer monitor to see it.

Believe it still requires the USB unless running from the Ipad app.

Tried to find on there website but have better luck coming here to find the answer. I have the fs1 software that comes with 1 course and the club fit. Is there an update you get for fsx or is it something you have to purchase and that fs1 is more or less out of date?

FSX requires a significant computer performance improvement over what is required for FS1. You can find the requirements on the Foresight website. They have s deal for those with FS1 if you wish to "upgrade". Something like what you have in FS1 for 995 plus 125 a course with some price break for multiple courses. If you have the necessary hardware they will give you the basic FSX for a two week trial. I don't have either the computer, video card or projector to use FSX so I passed on the trial offer.

Played the new FSX today and I have the Golf Club as well. That is pretty much all I have on m computer. Played Quarry @ Giants Ridge, and it was terrible. Not the golf course, but the performance. We played with settings at maximize performance and not 1080, and is was stuttering and hiccuping beyond belief. Foresight has had 2 plus years to get the software right and they just can't seem to. I have an i5 processor and a really good video card that meet their so called minimum specs. To think I need an I7 processor for non 4k and smooth performance is ridiculous when the Golf Club runs smoothly. I know I probably have voided my warranty and tech support, but who cares when the FSX is worthless at this point. I mean the ball hangs in the air for quite some time and the glitchy factor is terrible. I will contact them, but they will probably deny that there is anything wrong with the system. My advice is to stay away until they get it right. I will try an keep everyone updated when I talk to them, but if anyone has similar problems please share!!!

                            col forbin,

Was looking for the ipad app and saw that it cost $50. Do they really make you pay to use your $6k GC2 with the iPad? I'll end up paying it but really seems to be nickel and diming us. Just leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth. Just wanted to confirm that was the app I needed before spending the $50. Thanks.
