Anybody have opinions on the latest release of the FSX software? I think it is a very positive step in the right direction, but still needs some improvement. I have about 22 or so courses and was looking for anybody else's feedback regarding courses, especially the newer ones. If anyone has questions regarding the older courses, I could provide my favorites. The software still taxes the system a bit for some reason even if you have the performance setting on. Overall, I am just looking to open a forum for anything FSX since there really is nowhere on the internet with this info.

    Thanks

ks-man - In relation to everything else Foresight - I think the app is cheap for what it gives you. Multi Shot tracking - can email the data to yourself. I think it's easily worth $50 and suprised they didn't charge more for it. If you have HMT it shows you all that data as well.

    Here is the manual

I guess. I bought FSX which means that I paid over $2k for Foresight Software. I could understand the cost (or even charging more) if people didn't buy FSX but the iPad software to me simply looks like a mobile version of FSX. I'd think they would include it. I understand that after spending $8k for GC2 and FSX, what is an extra $50, however in my mind that question swings both ways and you would think that Foresight wouldn't try and nickel and dime their customer base. As somebody who bought FSX, TGC and will also buy PG when it comes out of beta, I'm certainly not somebody who constantly complains about needing to buy these things. I just think it seems wrong of Foresight to not include the iPad app as part of the FSX software.

I agree about including it in with FSX seeing the costs of that. I guess I was looking at it on its own for someone that didn't want to buy FSX. Its basically the fitting module portion of FSX in an app.

I think they set the price of the app long before they started doing the hard sell on FSX. Pretty sure they were selling this for those who would take it to the range, but now they want to dominate the software market so I kind of think the app is now an after thought for them. I agree though, it should be included with the FSX purchase.

Was looking for the ipad app and saw that it cost $50. Do they really make you pay to use your $6k GC2 with the iPad? I'll end up paying it but really seems to be nickel and diming us. Just leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth. Just wanted to confirm that was the app I needed before spending the $50. Thanks.
The ipad app is worth 50 bucks if you have an HMT

I don't think the app has been updated since 2013...

I can't say I'm impressed. I like the skills challenge and the driving range a lot. Very simple, which is good when it comes to ranges and skill challenges.

The actual golf seems to be 1990s ish. The graphics are bland and lack any detail. The worse thing about it to me is the lack of a functioning grid. The drop balls feature shows you nothing about the break of the green unless you are in a shadow and can see the dropped balls, which occurs on 2% of putts. Unless I'm missing an option in the menus, this is inexcusable. I think the overhead map on the right is nice though.

For me the benefit to the iPad app will be when I don't want to fire everything up and just want to hit balls for 5 or 10 minutes. The bluetooth connectivity to my iPad which will soon be on a stand right next to my GC2 would be nice. This way all I do is turn on the GC2 and my iPad and open the app. This saves me the hassle of turning on the computer, loading up FSX, connecting the USB cable to the GC2 and turning on the projector. In the end I know I'll just spend the $50 for the app but just feels like I should get it after having paid for FSX. Perhaps I'll e-mail Foresight. I doubt they'll do anything (not even sure they can since it is in the app store) but I guess no harm in trying.

Right now in those scenarios I just hit into my screen with only turning on the GC2. Maybe I'll just stick with that and save the $50.

When I bought my GC2 I bought the app because I wanted everything. I used it a few times until the room was done. Never used it again. My pro has an HMT he lets me use. I hooked it up and then I was blown away. The app is amazing with the HMT. Without, just look at the screen of the GC2.

I have heard rumours of an update to the app in the not too distant future - they will be wanting to get it out to make the most of the single dot putting data

Here's a video I did with a Flightscope Xi side by side with a GC2. The numbers are pretty close. It's done with the new FSX.

i just got it and am pretty happy with it. the graphics are not TGC level, but the functionality for practice/combine seems solid. More to come...

I have the updated software and it is a huge improvement. More options and I like the sound. Still having issues with the performance on some courses. La Jolley Pines was unplayable and Merion is having issues as well. The other courses seem to be ok most of the time. When I changed to the new program, I had to buy a new computer that met or exceeded their requirements so the computer is not an issue. It still frustrated me that they cannot solve the performance issues. I have to stick with them because of the money I have invested. I will say that their customer service has been excellent with me. Every time I have had issues, they have always helped in a courteous and professional manner. Over all, I am mostly satisfied with the software and feel they are trying to get some of their issues resolved.

I called tech support and they remotely logged on to my computer. They were able to get the software to work much smoother as they updated my video card. I always thought I updated it regularly, but maybe they changed some settings. Anyways, the newer courses are more graphically demanding on the computer I was told, and that was my experience. At this time, I am happy with the performance most of the time, but agree they have a bit more work to do to get the software to operate efficiently. I can say that with the update, and it running smoother, that there are some nice improvements. I like the ball laying in the grass, the 3D grass on the newer courses, the sound effects when working, the all in one interface, etc. Still lots of room for improvement, but that could be said about anything really. They assured me that my video card Nvidia Geforce 960GTX should essentially be more than adequate if I run it no higher than 1080. If anyone is experiencing problems, I would suggest calling tech support because like siebo said above, they are curteous and professional.

I don't have my screen yet and am playing by hitting into my net and watching my computer monitor.

Serious question... How do you guys not lose 2-3 hours a day playing?

                            This is great.

So how much is it for the new FSX software that just came out? Do you recommend going direct to foresight, or buying from par2pro?

I suggest calling Aaron from Foresight Canada if you're in Canada.
