  • GC2 Range Software at Golfsmith vs my GC2

I went to a Golfsmith in January and got fitted for a driver. I got the M1 with a Stiff Aldila Rogue Silver shaft because I was carrying it 260+ on the driving range software using a GC2. This was about 10 yard further than I was carrying my own driver. I made him show me that the shot distance boost was set to 1.0 (was turned off) before I made the purchase.

Fast forward two months later and I'm one week into owning my own GC2. I use the FSX and TGC software. The furthest I've been able to carry a drive is 242. My longest drive with roll is 265 and this was likely on a downhill tee shot. I'm hitting mid and long irons into par 4s in qualifying school on TGC.

Has anyone else experienced this? The weather hasn't been nice enough to get out to a range to test this yet but I have definetely seen myself fly the ball 250 at numerous real life ranges. I can't figure this out...

The most glaring thing here is the launch angle. You are launching the ball at 25.6* with a 7 iron. My Mizuno MP-59 7iron has a loft of 34*. A general rule of thumb is that your launch angle with irons should be about half of the clubs loft. With that in mind, you are launching the ball at an angle that you should be launching a 50* gap wedge at.

Don't stress out too much. You will figure it out. I eventually did. The calibration tool and warming up to swinging inside was all it took. Having all those numbers and instant feedback also led me to overswing a bit. Slowing things down helped with my smash factor and has brought me the distance that I felt I should be getting. It's been about 3 weeks though.

All Great Points , How much does being indoors hurt ??? The other item do we have to adjust the machine or does it automatically adjust for elevation .
I was thinking that the drag on the mat could effect the speed as well I always hit down on my ball , I try not to as much on the mat . I am also using TayorMade RSi TP 2015 Irons which i know are shorter than my new Callaway 2016 Apex Pro;s which are at my course in Fl. I will be taken those home with me next trip & cannot wait to test them against the RSi TP Clubs . I am club junky , I get new clubs every year what ever the best blade style clubs are that I likeI buy . That is why I purchased a GC2 I want the best possible results .

Matts and balls are distance killers with a GC2. Like I said before, use a prov1 to test. Also use a tee to test. It'll get better. Stick with it

Hi Guys After Installing both the latest firmware & the calibration software it really seems about the same . I have one of those $200.00 SC200 launch monitor & it actually appears to be more in line with my distances . Still short from out side numbers but I will have to see when I can take it out doors . any other thoughts on this would be great . Maybe I should send it to Foresight to have them go thru it . ?????? There might not be anything wrong either ?????

            A few thoughts:

            1. The shot with 8 iron that you posted was an extreme push hook and the 7 iron was a push fade. You aren't going to get a ball speed or distance reading for us to really troubleshoot your unit with when the shots had such poor face to path readings. Please post some screenshots of shots that you hit straight without much 'sidespin' and that felt solid to you.

            2. You say you are trying not to hit down on the ball when hitting off a mat. This may explain why your launch angle is so high. Could be flipping at impact. I would try to nip this habit asap. I have it and it's not pleasant. I've lost almost two clubs on all my irons.

            3. Make sure the legs are all the way down when using as they are not in the 8 iron screenshot.

After having a few more days here in the north east of boston , ma tried the CG2 on my off my deck of me house the numbers look really good. Wha I found was the ball was definitely traveling more accurate distances. can't wait for it to warm up a bit more to see even better results it appears to be extremely accurate so far . What a difference from inside my garage even thought it is heated on 60 degrees the balls are obviously cold etc...... will post better results later in the month as our golf season should get under way .
Thank for all the previous advice guys !!!!!!

I don't think the difference is related to the temp, i would guess it's you getting used to hitting inside vs out. It is a real issue that people don't realize.
