Bought fsx yesterday and now waiting for the download email. Includes 5-courses, just unsure if I get to pick them or if foresight packages certain ones. Anyone know?
Going to be completely honest here... I haven't played a course on FSX since aeroburner hooked me up with TGC. It's not a bad simulating software by any means, the skills challenges, range and such are all fantastic. I'm just not the biggest fan of playing their courses, especially with the lack of selection.

Yeah, thanks I agree. I have TGC and FR1 also. Currently having trouble getting true life carry numbers in TGC especially with driver. I'm sure it's an incorrect setting on my end that I plan to look into further, but mainly want the skill challenges on FSX since the numbers in FR1 are so accurate. Got gc2 mainly to improve my golf game. Playing courses is a bonus.
I figured out from FS that the 5-courses FSX comes with are Tenton Pines, Blue Bayou, Broken Tree, Linfield Nat., and Willow Crest.
/updates..............sorry
I saw that they had a Westchester Hills on there, but quickly took it off. Kind of like Doral and Pelican Hills
My guess is that they didn't realize that Westchester Hills is a real course (small private club) in Westchester County, NY. Certainly not an interesting enough layout to license. They probably picked this name out of the blue for one of their tribute courses and then realized that there was a conflict.
Whatever they released will probably be back under a a new name.
I believe they actually did recreate Westchester Hills, but are going to include it on a software drop. Last year, they introduced around 25 or so new courses in March/April. I think we will get a new batch in the coming months, but not much new until then. That is my guess anyways. Willow Crest, South Hills, Flint Hills, Laurel Valley, Butterfield, Hinsdale are most likely courses that use the GC2 and allowed Foresight to replicate their course. Most of the other courses are ports from the red chain software. I definitely could be wrong on Westchester Hills, but it does follow how the trend on how they release software.
I trust your judgment, as you seem to be the most invested in FSX as anyone here.
Come to think of it, that business model makes sense. Golf in the US has contracted a lot in the past ten years. More courses are closing than opening. Outside of the most elite institutions, private clubs are hurting the most (at least in my area). Whereas a super elite course might charge Foresight for the rights to use the course, lesser known courses might actually do it for nothing, as it provides a measure of free advertising.
Westchester Hills is actually a nice little course. Conditions were immaculate when I played it a few years ago. The only negative is that the holes are right on top of another. The tee box of one hole is basically right next to the (small) green of the previous hole. Just not enough space there. It's one of those courses where the starter should issue helmets.
Wish I wasn't so invested in FSX. I pre ordered it back in 2014 and it has taken a lot of patience to wait and see how it develops. I think Foresight is incredible on their launch monitors and the Quad has me real excited, but not until they enable bluetooth. I sold quite a few of my FSX courses and bought E6. Now I don't sit and wait to see what Foresight is up to with their software all the time. I have TGC, FSX & E6, and I am really enjoying E6 at the moment. I look forward to see what new courses FSX brings out, but once they announced Zombies and Roulette, I started to think they may have become disconnected with the home sim market.
"Zombies and Roulette" .... yeah that worried me a little too about the direction foresight was going with FSX, but it didn't come out with the new FSX 3.0 update, so maybe it was just a gimmick for the PGA merchandise show or a 3rd party app. I mean, i won't complain if its a free update hidden away in some corner, but i would never, ever consider buying those 2 'games'.
Interesting that you went the E6 route. I tried the demo and liked it. It felt more like playing, visually, to me. I found the putting speed to be extremely slow though. I'm thinking this could be tweaked with the ProTee interface but didn't try it. Did you go with just the base pack? The price per course is much better than Foresights as well. I was thinking about getting 10-15 or so FSX courses but now I'm thinking maybe 5 or 6. I like to use them for practice/game improvement. I may still get E6 the next time it goes on sale.
I love the E6 options and courses. To me, the graphics are pretty good. I know some will not say as great as TGC, but when comparing them to FSX graphically, it is night and day. I don't really do the whole sim putting thing on any of the softwares, so that doesn't play a big role for me. There are tons of options in the protee interface like you said to tweak putting. I'm glad I have the options, but find myself playing E6 a ton more than the other two right now.
I sold the FSX courses on ebay. You can transfer ownership and they will disable it from your user profile and add it to the person who purchases it. It does cost that person an extra $100 to have them transfer ownership though.
Looks like Foresight release a few new courses and some missing ones are back. It also looks like they improved the resolution on some of the videos/pics

Spring City Mountain

I can't watch a video from any of the new ones. It just takes me to the download page.
I assume if I download one that I don't own, it won't let me play it because it hasn't been activated?!
I'm considering purchasing another couple of courses - but not sure what to get. I'd really like to see FSX fixed a bit more before I give them any more cash though!
