Yeah they probably had a deal right after the PGA show in late Jan. That 3K seems a bit high for just the FSX, but a lot has changed since they seem to be charging an SDK fee when selling a unit. When I bought my GC2, there was no Golf Club or other options really. That $3500 seems like it would include the SDK fee, which makes no sense if you are going to use FSX. If they can move a unit for cheaper, I would think they would want to for future business. Grant is reasonable, but he can only do what Foresight allows.

I really appreciate par 2 pro service. They did have the same special. Foresight was offering $500 off the gc2/FSX so it came out to 9600 and then they knocked an extra 10% so it came out to around $8600 the total price of my set up. I got 5 courses for free and added two more for 125/each. Granted I'm doing all my materials through them except my computer and projector. I was able to order a high end Alienware computer and ship it to them to load and test all the software before shipping it back to me. I also saved money buying a higher end projector on Amazon which they recommended I do. I'm going fairly high end and all in I'm around $21k plus install costs so I may have gotten a better deal than just buying the gc2 alone? I think the list price of FSX is 2999 not 3500. Also if you buy FSX you get the sdx for free you only pay that fee (around 1000) if you buy gc2 without FSX and want to load other software (i.e. TGC)
My biggest issue at this point is whether to fork out the extra $6500 for the HMT. I figured I would use it for a while to make sure I love it first. Anyone here using it?Last edited by RCorsa; 04-07-2016, 02:41 AM.Comment

Did you get the Alienware Area 51 desktop? I built one on their website and it came out to around $2,600 for what I needed for a golf sim. I've been looking at the Alienware laptops since I'll be moving around a bit, but the area 51 is a beast of a machine that can go up to about 5k if you include all the high end options available for it.Comment

I got the x51 and maxed out all the specs. I7 32gb ram and the 970 graphics chip. All in it was about $1600 I think plus an additional $600 for a nice 27inch 4K monitor. They are doing set up as we speak. 8 hours into it and about 80% done. Should be playing by this evening. I'll post photos and impressions tomorrowComment

There are no short throw 4K projectors that are on the market yet. I hear Sony will release one for around $15,000 but if you can afford it themupgrading your video card is not a big deal. As far as the 4K display it makes little difference at anything less than 55 inches. It's more marketing from display makers. I'm pretty happy with the resolution at 1080p this far.Comment

Agree cost prohibitive to get 4K projector thus can't maximize FSX graphics to its fullest potential. If you could be so kind to comment on FSX graphics on your 4K monitor versus FSX graphics on your impact screen. I am curious if course scenery is more realistic with 4K.Comment

The monitor looks better but mostly because it's brighter and has better contrast that ten projector and I got a really good short throw Acer projector. If I turn all the lights down the projector looks really close to the monitor but then I can't see the ball! The actual graphics look the same. I've only had it working for a day but I will say FSX kind of looks like a work in progress rather than a super polished sim.Comment

I have Creative Golf and the graphics are very nice. I would think Foresight would use this software developer to construct their courses. Creative Golf has some nice golf courses, driving range, target practice challenges, and games for family ( miniature golf, break the Windows, etc). The critique is that on golf courses and on driving range, it does not show all of the GC2 ball data. On courses just shows distance.Comment

It has come a long way since 2014............that's for sure!!!! It is definitely a work in progress, but the outcome will be positive. Unfortunately, things in the sim world take a very long time. I have the same issue with my 1080p monitor looking much better than my screen, but I expect that because the projector is far away and it it is only 720p. Next year I will be looking into a short throw mounted on the ceiling and a 1080p projector, but by no means is there any reason to get a 4K projector for FSX. I don't think there would be much difference at all with the graphics being the way they are currently. Maybe when the price of a 4K is somewhat reasonableComment

The last couple days I've figure out how to access the data better in the "improve section" including adding all my clubs. This has allowed me to compare some shaft types with my driver and all the spin data etc is actually really helpful. For adjusting my swing with irons. I suspect I will use the improve feature more than playing courses as I felt I get more out of an hour of detailed practice with my gc2 than several hours on the range.Comment

Can anyone comment on what makes FSX courses "better" compared to PR1 courses. I have played Teton Pines. Are the graphics quality in this course representative of other FSX courses? Do you thinks the graphics are better with FSX compared to PR1?Comment

IMHO FSX does have much better graphics than the old foresight software. Everything is more detailed and immersive and it actually feels like you can get more of a sense for layout on each course. In the old software, it felt like you were on one hole and there was no bird's eye view to show you all the surrounding holes. The options are getting much better with each update and will only continue to improve. The 3D grass is much cooler than I ever thought it could be especially when you see your ball rolling through tall grass instead of staying on top. The cuts of grass look pretty nice as well. I would say Teton Pines is a good representation of the overall software. Some courses are better looking than others, but that is just depending on what you like. Now, are the graphics on par with TGC.....I would say definitely not, but we are talking between FR1 and FSX.Comment

I'm choosing my 5 courses now and think I'm going with La Jolla Pines, Cog Hill, Hazeltine, Praire Dunes, and 1 of the following; Coeur d'Alene, Interlochen, or Quarry at Giant's Ridge. Of those 3, which should I choose?Comment

I like your choices. If I were doing it I would knock out Prairie Dunes and get Coeur d'Alene and Interlachen. If you are dead set on Prairie Dunes, I would get Couer d'Alene as the extra course. A new update was rolled out that has improved some of the courses quite a bit. For example, before Olympic seemed rather bland, but now it has been given extra detail and is a sharp course.Comment
