GC2 or GC2A based on serial number?

Good evening,

There's currently a GC2 on eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/191834696968) that looks to be posted by a pawn shop. The photo shows "GC2" as the model and "A6924" as the serial. Does the "A" in the serial mean this is a GC2A or that just wishful thinking on my part?

Also, anyone know what is on the "Simulation Software" disc that is pictured?

I figure at a minimum the buyer is going to be looking at an extra $500 for the dongle but this could still end up being a decent buy if it doesn't get bid up too much.

My unit is a GC2a (compatible with iPad app) and it has an A at the beginning of the serial #. I was told by my sales rep that FSX is on the cloud now and is downloaded (no disc). May be early version of FSX or the FR1 version.

The software disc is useless without the green dongle included. It's 500.00 for the security dongle..its just the basic software range and one course which can be downloaded from a foresight download site

I didn't realize the USB dongle had the range and one course on it. If I just want to use the GC2 for sim, I can buy a used unit like this and TGC and I don't even need the dongle?

You don't need a dongle for TGC.

I was considering that unit myself.

Not only was it an Apple compatible serial, but the high number indicates that it was fairly new. Still, at the price that ones have been going for on the used market lately, I'm probably going to end up buying new. My cap on a decent used one is about $4,200, $4,500 max.

$5,100 is over the top.

You could probably wait until spring when some will sell theirs when they play outdoors more, and the prices should be back down to around $3k-3.5k

This has been my logic all along. I'm going to wait until mid-summer. If prices are still close to $5K by that point, I'll buy new. Used electronic devices with unknown histories (e.g. seller was not the original owner or even a user) shouldn't be going for 70% of MSRP. There's a bubble right now.

In addition to people breaking down setups at the start of spring, the 2nd Swing guys told me that a lot of theirs were trade ins from guys upgrading to Trackman (which would also make sense in the spring). I'm starting to doubt this somewhat as there is pretty compelling evidence that those guys just bought a lot of (heavily) used Foresight stuff from a big box chain that was liquidating inventory.

I think you're right on the 2nd Swing guys. That said, I have a 2nd Swing unit. lol. Bought it before the "bubble" though.
